Hello everyone!

A bit of information:

What size is your room?
4.2m x 5.0m

Any restrictions re placement of speakers (eg room shape/design etc)?
I would prefer the speakers not to be to bulky

What size is your TV?
Sony 46" KDL-46X4500

Other items included in setup?
Sky+HD, Sony PS3 Slim.

If there is anything else you would like answered please do not hesitate to post 🙂

Here comes the important bit, I live in a small block of flats (four stories high) I am not looking for shear power I just want clarity from every sound. My budget is £1000 but it can stretch if necessary, for example if something is so much better for £200 more the budget can stretch accordingly to accommodate.

Looking forward to your posts!

Kind Regards
Barracuda

Well I found a Monitor Audio RSW12 for 299.99 delivered, sub sorted, also maybe the 1910 denon. thats quite cheap now.

I have diamond 9.1 for front 99.00 each and mordaunt short aluni for rear.

Not sure how that denon would work this the fronts, but just a starting point to say it can be done for 1000.00

Oh seen that flat thing, might want to skip the subwoofer, what about floor stands? you can get Monitor audio BR5 for 340.00 delivered

Thanks for the relpy and for your suggestions canada16,

I would prefer if all the speakers were from the same make, I don't mind about the amplifier and the subwoofer.

Do you think it is better to go with a set of speakers? I was looking at the KHT3005SE from KEF in particular.

Well I have never listened to the kef's it's just a make I found intriguing whilst browsing.

At the moment as far as I can see it is best to get a set of speakers and subwoofer whilst buying a good amplifier.

I have also been looking at the bookshelf speakers also from kef.

Am I correct in saying that if I want quality home cinema setup in my flat at my budget I will not be going for the conventional all-in-one kind of package where the amplifier, subwoofer and speakers are all included in one... kind of like the ones from Sony ?

Yes quality does come with seperates, but you can get a decent all in one surround package, but they tend to be cheap looking and lack alot of connections, also can't be upgradeable, and if you get a problem with the main unit, then system becomes useless. The Kef package mentioned is good value partner it with the Yamaha 1065 and it's a great system for £1200, also if you don't want to spend that much i would look at the Q Acoustic 2000, now at £499, Tannoy Arena-lites if you can still find them and the smaller Kef 2005.3.

Thanks for your post lobby,

I have had a think about it and done a little more research as well... I will most probably end up going with a 2.1 system or some sort of 'Soundbar' first time I have heard of them.
