I'm about to buy a Plasma TV and home cinema equipment and need something to put it on. I'm looking to spend up to £250 on the rack.

I think I need 3 shelves (TV on the top, centre speaker on the middle, and amp and blu ray player on the bottom).

The TV will be a Pioneer 5090 which will leave no room for anything else on the top shelf.

The amp I'm planning to get is an Onkyo 876 which run quite hot so I want plenty of space above it so it doesn't overheat (the amp is about 19cm high).

The amp and blu ray player should fit side by side on the bottom shelf. At some point in the near future I'm planning to get a Humax Freesat HDR. This won't fit on the bottom shelf so it will have to sit on the shelf with the centre speaker.

Does anyone know whether the vibration from the speaker will affect the Humax box (e.g. its hard disk)? Would I be better putting the Humax box on top of the Blu ray player?

I was think an Alphason AD3/105 rack might fit the bill. Does anybody have any experience of this rack regarding its build quality?

Are there any other racks that I should consider?

As an alternative and way to save money then what about this?? Was originally £200. Not sure if the shelf spacing leaves enough of an air gap.

If the Humax box fits next to the centre it should be OK. I have used equipment on the same shelf as a centre speaker with no issues (Virgin Box). Probably better off on the Blu-Ray player though....

I'm not sure about this, but isn't the Onkyo one of their 'big chasis' models. If it is, you'll struggle to get it to fit into a standard a/v stand, because of it's extra height and depth. Maybe one of the wood framed/ glass shelved models would work as some have adjustable shelving heights.

Bretty,

I think the Onkyo will just about fit in the Alphason rack (it might stick out at the front or the back a bit but it should have enough room height wise so that it doesn't overheat). Having checked the shelf heights for the Icon it might not provide enough space for the hot running 876 to prevent overheating. Thanks for the suggestion though.
