Hi all!,

Reading this forum I found it to be extremely useful! So I decided to register and ask my first question.I currently use my old B&O Avant as my main Tv. I also have optoma hd300x for watching movies and internet content like iplayer etc via PS3 - this setup worked just fine for my, however I think i might upgrade my avant to something more XXi century like . So I'm on the hunt for good not necessarily new plasma tv ( can't stand LED ). I don't need it to be 3d ready bla bla bla - however it have to produce decent quality picture with deep black as i really get used to my Avant which in that case is great. Let say i have 400-500 pounds to spent on not necessarily new screen:I came across the Pioneer plasma pdp-507xd in very good condition, I know its only 720p , the person is asking 400 for it. I'm not sure if its worth or just get a new one for that price. Any help much appreciated!

Thanks

is it worth the extra £170 over the Pioneer? As i mention I will only watch bbc Iplayer (via tablet ) and some DVD's . All blu rays and 3d im leaving for projector. I also do not use freeview or any cable tv to get use of 1080p.

Thanks

Remember that the Pioneer is a 7-year old model and out of warranty. As far as I'm aware, legally, a manufacturer is meant to support a product for 7 years, making repairs unviable in case of problems.

As you're only going to watch DVDs, it's better to go for an HD ready TV (720p) rather than full HD. In that case, this is currently available at a bargain price:

I see no sense in buying the Pioneer when you can get something cheaper brand new.

Just want to say big thanks!.

I followed your suggestion and went with this Panasonic TV. not from Richers Sound tho , as they havent got any in stock in Leeds, however my local TV store have them at 389, so I went there after work and here it is ! Big and lovely tv ! PQ wise its really great! they also has some samsung hd ready plasma for 429 standing next to it and LG for 499 and I have to say this one had the best PQ out of them 3! :)

Just watched some Star Treks and I simply love it !

Again, thanks for great advice!
