Have we gone to far with AI? With wi fi systems and blue tooth controlling our lives .This as everyone knows on here that this has been debated in parliament and in the world . Exactly how much control have we got with those .devices. . Note from the recent problems of Amazon (electronic camera systems ) We gone far from the simple "remote control" of yesteryear of the TV , now it is even cookers fridges lighting and alarm systems now .via the internet but many have now a passive system of they decide ,what to do ,rather than us making the decisions ( perhaps this is too political now to discuss on here or perhaps lazyness instead . Remember some train systems do not need a driver and now the driverless bus and HGV , do we really need this ?
Should we allow those devices to control us ? , and go back to those days of a remote control of the telly instead , perhaps now .
Love to know what the forum thinks and yes how many devices have your got in your home ,that do exactly that ?

Or is this a question that does not meet the forums rules i wonder /

So long as it remains a servant it is fine, the problem occurs if you allow it to become the master, so its up to us to decide.
Regarding vehicles the weakness is the biological CPU, as their pretty useless when it comes to driving, (Hence the amount of accidents and deaths on the road) so replacing them with something logical and aware would be a great advantage in doing a better job, however were still a good number of years away from this so accidents and road deaths will continue for some time to come.

The big issue for the manufacturers seems to be culpability in the event that their AI has to choose who it'll crash into. Can't see that being unpicked easily.

Back to the OP - in what way exactly do wifi and bluetooth control our lives? Feature in them yes, but control them? Hardly.

From what I read in Science Focus, AI has massive scope in developing vaccines etc. Sure AI needs its confines, but there's an awful lot of paranoia about...

If history tells us anything, it is that you cannot go back. From the 19th Century Luddites who fought against automation. The introduction of the carbon fueled automobile (remember electric vehicles long before petrol ones, just not as convenient to use ). The internet of everything, which now is an essential part of everyone's life, even if they don't "use" the internet.

Whether anyone is able to regulate it is open to debate and doubtful. Would the West trust the Chinese or the Iranians to keep to any agreement and vice versa?

I don't believe it to be an existential threat but it will very likely change the way we live our day-to-day lives. Much in the way automation and the petrol engine did way back when. The latter probably would not have been allowed to exist, if we knew then what we do today.

Advanced intelligence refers to the ability of a system or entity to exhibit sophisticated cognitive abilities, such as learning, reasoning, problem-solving, and adaptation. This level of intelligence goes beyond basic automation and can involve complex decision-making processes, predictive analytics, and understanding of context. Advanced intelligence is often associated with AI) systems capable of performing tasks that traditionally require human-level cognitive abilities.
