Spam in the forums

With the increasing number of first-timer spam posts on the forum is there no way these posts can be quarantined, like many Facebook Groups do, until they have been OK'd by Mods/Admin and then released?
Just curious as it could obviously save a lot of backtracking leg work.

Hey folks,

Forums are an incredibly easy place to come and get help or offer advice. This also means they are prone to be visited by folks who are paid to try to get advertising into the free forum.

We can certainly lock down the forum so only veteran members of the community are able to post without prior approval, but then the experience of being a new user would be substantially worse.

The spam is annoying, but we're constantly updating our systems to prevent the return of spam that makes it live.

The best thing folks can do is to keep reporting it when it comes up and our volunteer moderators will clean it up when they drop by.

After the spam is cleaned up our Community Team is able to do additional steps on the back end to strengthen our systems, so every report is incredibly helpful for the forum.

Thanks to everyone who is reporting posts and helping us remove those looking to spam.

I hope your spam recognition methods become more efficient because it is obvious, after today, they need to be .
I could comment further on possible more efficient methods but, as you are aware, I cannot.

Spam is always going to be a problem here and there as spammers find new ways to work around the system. That said, you can help by using the report function on the forums and reporting any spam you see when it appears. This will allow us to quickly analyze the spam and make changes based on what they are posting. Thanks for raising the issue.

Are WHF going to continue burying your heads in the sand and pretending like locking down the forum is a worse user experience than continually being greeted by Spam every time you visit?

The forum is being inundated with it at the moment and it's unacceptable to just to rely on the volunteer mods removing it when they see it.
