Hi guys I am not sure whether to stick with my current amp and add the NAD C272 power amp to it, or to go the ebay route and purchase a second hand amp, my reasoning for the first, is then my NAD (current one) will act as the pre amp and the c272 will handle solely the power which sounds like it will result in a much improved sound from what I have now?

I think my amp is excellent, it's not dissatisfaction, it's just the wondering of how much better my system could sound with a budget of say 450.00 ish.

If you are happy with the amp, and could push your budget up to £475, you could improve your system immensely by adding a Rega Apollo CD player. Thats where my next £475 is probably going to go now they've dropped the price significantly.

Thanks for the suggestion Marco but to be honest playing lossless files through an external dac, is the only way for me now, I wouldn't go back to a cd player again.

You could probably get hell of a DAC for that budget, might be the way to go, the source is definitely the most important component.

hi fi newbie:

With a power amp connected to an integrated provides a cleaner current and therefore the sound is crisper, the bass better defined and, usually, gives you more output.

Joelsim is the kiddie to provide more insight on bi-amping a power source; others also love the concept of an addition of a box. I have heard power amps in the past and was quite impressed.
