Matthew, a bit of information if you can please.

Knowing who you work for I wondered if you could give me your personal opinion on a couple of pieces of equipment if you have had dealings with both. The two in question being the Sony STRDH800 and the Sony STRDN1000. I have obviously read the What Hi-Fi review on the Sony STRDH800 but cannot find any reviews on the Sony STRDN1000 except American ones so the main question is how do the two stack up against each other, given the difference between the two in recommended price.

I have downloaded the manuals for both machines so I’m clued up on technical specifications.

Many Thanks. Paul

Sorry to be a while. I was indeed out Christmas (food) shopping.

I am familiar with the STRDH800 and it strikes me as being a very decent piece of kit for the money. There is plenty of detail and dynamism to the sound with movies and it makes a very decent fist of popular music styles, although I wouldn't want to use it for a lot of classical music listening because it can sound a little on the thin side with such material.

We don't stock the STRDN1000 so I haven't had any contact with it as yet.

No apology is necessary, I appreciate its a busy time of year for everyone.

Thanks very much for your answer and your insight into the STRDH800.

On a lighter note I don't bump posts anymore as it appears I have my own little army of bumpers.
