Hi Everyone,

Currently running a B&W 608 with Focal Dome satellites. I'd like to 'feel' more bass but also dont want to be shaking the foundations. With this in mind, i'd be interested to know what effect replacing the 608 with a PV-1 would have. Although i dont have it up that loud, the 608 still creates alot of vibrations through the floor even though i've already put it on an Auralex sub stand. I've heard the PV-1 is designed to rattle less. Would this reduce the level of vibrations or the fact that the PV-1 is more powerful and goes lower than the 608 will that make the room shake even more?

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Hi Alex

How much improvement did you get from the Auralex?

I suggest you might try two things. I also have the Gramma, which I have placed on two Granite work top savers from Argos (ie. placed underneath and side by side)

Secondly (if you haven't already), try a mains lead like the Clearer Audio Copperline Alpha+....this (for me anyway) tightened things up nicely.

Both these options can be returned if ineffective.

As for the PV1 - it will have to be tried in situ.

Your other option is to try something with EQ, like that from Velodyne (SPL 800 ultra) or Paradigm (Seismic 110).....both very small, tight and impressively powerful subs.

Hi CNO,

Thanks for your response.

Auralex definitely improved things but If I want any kind of significant bass its like its not there at all.How much difference did the granite work top saver make?

Was hoping the fact that the PV-1 cabinet doesnt vibrate would help things but happy to consider other alternatives.

Don't know much about the 608 but the PV1 is rock solid. Given the way it performs, I find the granite slabs solution as a reflection of the poor design of other subs.
