This is what it says when my Arcam automatically switches to AV on my 42" panny. ie 576p input selected. What does this mean? I'm using a Chord hdmi and the picture is wonderful.

Says where (and which component is saying it.)

If your TV is getting a 576P signal it will be upscaling it anyway (unless it's appearing with a black border all the way round it (which I doubt). I have an older Lite-On DVD/HDD recorder and 576P is the highest resolution it can kick out for example. The TV it's connected to therefore has to do the upscaling to fill the 720p screen. Whenever I enable the recorder I get the same 576p message as part of it's start up routine.

Might be your reciever chosing not to upscale the source and telling you, or perhaps it can't upscale the source so it's passing it to the TV as is and letting it do the upscaling. If you are happy with the picture why worry?

Do you have a high def source like Blu Ray? if you do the resolution message should be different if you use that.
