Hi,

quite interesting reading everyone bar one noticed a difference between full HD and 4k from 9 foot away 55 inch screen.

Which seems to conflict with things I have read.

It's one of the main reasons why 4k is a big no no for me at the moment.

i get the impression from articles online etc that to get the full benifet of 4k 55,60,65 inch screens just are not big enough.which kind of makes you think what is the point of 8k or 16k .the Japanese are skipping 4k altogether and going straight to 8k for the Olympics.

if 75-85inch screens are recommended for 4k then what chance do any of us have in experiencing the full benifet of 8k etc in fact as the resolution increases it's our eyes that will eventually let us down because they won't be good enough to see all the detail.

for all the people that spend thousands on a new 55-65 inch 4k tv I'd love to see a standoff with a flagship calibrated 1080p tv v a calibrated 4k tv both playing skyfall in Blu ray and 4k version if and when available I doubt there would be much difference .

how many people even if they could afford it would want a 70-80screen in their home it's fine if you have a dedicated home cinema room etc but for your average uk living room it would be a big black monstrosity sitting in the middle of the room.

TV technology has a long way to go before its resolution surpasses the human eye (576 megapixels):

I can see TVs of the future thin enough to replace a window or a wall.

This is worth a read.

http://referencehometheater.com/2013/commentary/4k-calculator/

includes a a handy little calculator for viewing distance/benefit of 4k.

According to their calculator, at the 55" standard screen size currently available for 4k sets you'll see no discernible benefit when sitting 9 feet away (relative to 1080p).

With the introduction of these new projecor screens that can work in well lit living rooms, then we have every chance of having 4k and 8k.

Also the benefit of 4k is that you can sit closer to the screen and that changes the dynamics of a setup.

Mr Malarky - Interesting artcle.

Hi,

Most people in this HD TV test did notice the difference between the two we'll nearly all in fact.

I have looked at 4k TVS in shops and I know they are prob not set up identically etc.

The picture looks pretty damn good to my eyes close up and standing a way back.

I suppose it's what ever suits the individual.

I am looking for a new 55 inch TV.

The new samsung 4K 55hu7500 as it's a flat screen interests me ( not sure about curve on a 55 )

It's only £100 more than the new 55 inch 8 series full HD.

So seems 4k is the way to go for me for the sake of £100

I think I will try to get a demo with similar content if possible.

Christian
