Hey

I asked before but only was told you were looking into it.

Not sure why you have no for sale thread for people who cant afford to buy new.

Is there a reason?

I asked other moderators, and they advised all you have to do is say that what hi-fi holds no responsiblilty for the things people sell.

Thanks

It's something we're looking into, but we would need both a personal messaging system and the resources to police ads and deal with complaints, neither of which we have at the moment.

There are smaller forums out there that has this, why do you need to police it, just say you hold no resposibility for the items sold.

How long has this forum site been going for?

Cheers for the response.

If you take a look an a particular forum, they seem to have quite a lot of issues. I know you can say that you take no responsibility, but the last thing you want is for your forum to get a bad name for whatever reason.

Around ten years. But then we don't run classified ads in the magazine for the same reason.

And yes, a sales or wants section giving rise to a raft of disputes and complaints wouldn't be at all good for the magazine's image.

the world is fully of chippy sorts who think it's Pret's fault when the coffee they sell turns out to be hot, unless they have a "contents may be hot" sticker on the cup. WHF can disclaim all they want, but if your Arcam AVR600 that you picked up for £100 turns out not to work, I'm sure there'll be a raft of (unjustified) - "why didn't you protect me" whingers. A magazine that cares about its reputation and sales probably doesn't want to be associated with dud deals.

In theory it's sounds a great idea, in pratice i'd say it's a nightmare

Andrew Everard:And those other forums arguably have a lot less to lose in terms of reputation than a global brand like WHFSV.
