Hi, this may be a stupid question, but i know 3d tvs and blu ray players are to be released soon and Sky is doing a 3D channel or something, but what about blu ray films? When new movies come out on disc will most be in 3d. Are they gonna be available on 3D as soon as the tvs are out? Will there be many 3D discs available, or just have to wait for 1 or 2 films like Avatar to be released. Dont want to buy a 3D set and player, then there be no films to actually watch.

Also will the 3D blu rays be a seperate disc you have to buy, or just a normal disc that will work normally on a non 3d blu ray player, but then will be in 3d when played on a 3D player? Hope that makes sense.

The short answer is wait and see.

Early adopters of new technology alway pay top price, and if too few people buy the system you will be left with expensive pieces of electronic junk.

That, I think just about sums up 3DTV, just buy a good quality 2D set, in two/three years time you'll be glad you did, then see if 3D has taken joe public's money, which I doubt, how long has HDTV/blu ray been out?

Yeah i wont be buying a 3D set. It doesnt really appeal to me. I just wondered how much content will be available. I look on release schedules for blu rays etc and havent seen any that say 3D. Dont see the point in 3D tvs coming out if there is nothing to watch.

AFAIK, one of the first 3D Blu-ray films to be released will be Monsters vs Aliens from Dreamworks, and a 3D version of Toy Story 3 is on the cards. No doubt Avatar and Tim Burton's forthcoming Alice in Wonderland will make it on to BD in due course, but I don't expect there'll be a flood of 3D BD titles to begin with.

There won't be a shortage of stuff to watch as long as you like porn, sports and games because that really is the only market it's aimed at. The porn market been the biggest closely followed by games etc etc. So if your a single male, have more money than sense, like staying at home and prefer virtual reality then it's for you.

Don't get me wrong, I think blu ray will be forcing this down our throats (no pun intended) but it's only using it to boost it's own sales.

Wow, that sounds like me, except for having more money than sense. I may have to go 3D after all. You have just persuaded me. You should get a job in 3D sales! LOL

I tend to agree, sit back and wait a few years to see what happens. Personally, I will be giving it a wide birth. Seen a few films so far and don't feel any urge to go down the 3D route. I am more than happy with good old 2D.
