Hi

i'm looking to get a cheap Tv - Maximum £500 for the bedroom, but a lot of tv's at this price are at 50Hz. I"m not planning to watch DVD's, or play games on this > Just normal Sd and HD. what is the main difference between 50Hz and 100Hz ? Would I notice any difference or should i try to get 100hz ?

what size ? samsung and sony lcds have very good sd , and hd , maybe a samsung 40b550 or sony 40 v5500 , both last years 50hz models , should still be a few about , the lack of 100 hz shouldnt be a problem for regular tv , although a 100hz set may be better for watching sports , you should be able to find either for around £500...

if you want 100hz , then you will need to downsize to a 37in version of either the sammy b650 or sony w5500 to stay under budget ..

not sure about the latest models , it may be hard finding one under budget , and i wouldnt think they would be much better really for general tv viewing , maybe have more functions , internet widgets etc , but you probably wont need those ..

Theres good and bad 50 and 100Hz sets so I certainly wouldnt dwell on either. Look for reviews and try to find people on forums with that particular tv to see if there are any problems with it

thanks for your comments, i'm looking for a 32 inch - a visit to stores on bank holiday monday then !

Fully agree on this one!

Don't put so much attention to specs, they doesn't really say anything about the actual performance.
