Technical specs are now up on Sony's site.

One of the big new tech features is the ability to use internet widgets such as RSS news feeds. Sony call this 'Applicast'.

In terms of current ranges, the X4500 will run for most of the remainder of this year and, of course, the EX1 and ZX1 models are only relatively new launches and will run for some time yet as the first showcases for Sony's wireless HD and (in the case of the ZX1) ultra thin panel technology.

The 200Hz Z4500 range has slightly longer to go before its replaced with the Z5500 which is expected somewhere around July.

Weren't Samsung first to incorporate internet widget technology to their 8 series?

Its a pretty widespread development but yes, I think Samsung were probably the first to shout about it with their Yahoo link.

The point being?? The wall mountable version is more because it requires a speaker system to be purchased which plugs into the underside of the panel. It is packaged complete with the purpose made bracket to mount the ultra thin panel. On the table top version the speaker is built into the pedastal.

Yes its expensive at the moment but then both the wireless HD streaming and the Edge LED Backlighting that enables it to be so thin are brand new technology. Its not that long ago that people were paying £2k for a 32" LCD with either one or no HDMI inputs, and each pound is worth a lot less than it was then. Prices have tumbled massively.

I notice it's not Full HD wireless though is it? It's 1080i and Sony are being a little cheeky with their badging of it as Wireless 1080, which could mislead people into thinking it's 1080p wireless. Incidentally, the sony website states that the panels are 1080p but only as a monitor, which I guess means you could could bypass the media box and plug an AV amp (for example) straight into the panel and use it without the built in tuners and so forth?

I'll be waiting for the Panasonic I think.

I`m looking for a 37" tv but it needs to be silver-ish if possible. Was hoping some of the Sony`s might have been the right colour but it seems all three of their new 37" sets are piano black. I like black tv`s but with what we`ve done to the room recently silver would look better.

Anyone know if the super-duper (is that how you spell it?!) new Phillips LED backlighting series will feature a 37"?

p.s. I obviously won`t buy a tv just because it`s silver. It will have to be a good set as well!

I was merely laughing at how much sony want's some stupid people to fork out just for a 40 inch wireless HD tv. When you can get a Pioneer and full home cinema system for the same or less money, it's a joke.

Vi Veri Veniversum Vivus Vici. Thanks, Rorschach.

Product has been launched. We've got the new 32E5500 and 40E5500 in our store now. Its essentially a W5500 in a white picture-frame design. No 26" E-series in the new range, but there will be a 22" later in the year.

Thread revived.

A local store has the KDL40V5500 for sale this monday for £732 compared to the £915 they sold it for. It's the only 40'' lcd they have on sale that day and I'm tempted, given the lowish price. My only concern is that it's "only" 50Hz. What do I actually miss out on compared to higher freq. lcd's?

i have two sets a 40w 4000 50 hz and a 46w5500 100 hz and both are superb for games and movies. need for speed undercover on the 40 inch is superb as is james bond quantum of solace..sometimes i prefer the 'older' 40 inch set.

the game is 720p and the bond movie upscaled dvd via a ps3

so nothing to worry about and sony prices are now rock bottom, i got the 46 inch for AUS $1844 with a ps3 and 3 year warranty.
