1st generation Ultra HD TVs to become obsolete within 1 year??

Is there any truth in this news report? Or is it another Daily Mail news?

Sounds like nonsense, pretty sure HDMI 1.4 can handle 4k, there's several other factual inaccuracies in there as well which call the entire article into question (such as I don't recall any issues with HD Ready TVs showing "Full HD TV channels", not least because there aren't any Full HD broadcast TV channels (I know the BBC have broadcast 1080p but they certainly weren't in 2006)).

The_Lhc i remember you telling me on the forums that the lack of bandwidthes wouldn't allow sky to broadcast in 1080p,has things dramatically changed?

That's what I thought as well, that HDMi 1.4 can handle 4K. Weren't some early "HD ready" TVs not equipped with HDMi ports? I very vaguely seem to recall that.
