1,5 year old Award winning Plasma still up to par for blu-ray

Dear all,

over the years I could acquire a nice setup at bargain prices thanks to a friend who had a shop.

Right now the shop has closed so it's 'no bargain' time

I'm a real movie fan and I have bought the What Hifi award winning Panasonic 37PV70 plasma which had the comment 'it's not how many pixels but what you do with them'. Now, I got a lot of blu ray disks and I finally want to play them so i decided to go for the current best buy sony 760.

My question: is there anybody who did compare (side by side) blu-ray playback on a HD Ready (1024*768) plasma like mine and a Full HD version because i'm wondering if my panasonic is good enough and it's difficult to take it to a shop and compare it.

Dear Edward, thanks for the reply and what a relief, my wife will be happy

Your profile indicates that you also have great experience in the field of audio quality therefore I would like to ask what your experience is with the difference between regular DTS and DD (via the processor of a higher end av processor) and DTS or DD HD (via the analogue outs of a mainstream blu-ray player). I don't have 7.1 neither do i have a hdmi compatible processor but it does have 5.1 analogue in.

I'd suggest that DD-HD and DTS-HD are a considerable advance over the standard versions; I've found them to be particularly so with classical music on Blu-ray.
