    Compact bedroom CD system ?

Not sure why you don't like streaming, I was against it for many years as I abhor subscription services (my phone as still a non expiring pay as you go), someone asked me a couple of years ago, when I was younger, did I buy 1 CD or more a month and the answer was yes. They mentioned a...

    Appreciating your system

Tempted to have left it to make you squirm :ROFLMAO: ... Must admit, I'm normally "hot" on spelling / grammar, surprised I hadn't noticed it before. Bought a 2nd x ZA3 a week or so ago to go with the one you sold me set as mono blocks, the room has some placement issues due to speakers being...

    Appreciating your system

I'm 100% in the music 1st .... but as s musician since a very young age, that includes enjoying hearing every bit of detail of every instrument without it having a harsh edge to it. I've always had a semi decent surround sound receiver which I used for stereo as well and a "reasonable" set of...

    Appreciating your system

When you listen to your main system regularly, it's very easy to take if for granted and pick holes in what are probably bad recordings and blame the setup. I've had a day today of trying to decide whether to upgrade an amp in a secondary listening area, using an amp switch going back and...

    Best Bang for Lowest Spend

A big thank you to everybody for their input, as much as anything it made ME think about it differently, he's not an audiophile so just wants something "good" that will do the job and is probably more "lifestyle" driven as opposed to seeking the absolute best possible sound but wants something...

    Best Bang for Lowest Spend

I've just been looking at amp upgrades for myself as well and was considering the Vibelink or WiiM Amp Ultra but research tended to say they erred towards lean and lacking dynamics. Not sure is that's across the range or just to 2 I was looking at although I've not actually heard one myself.

Excellent sound quality in a system is enough for most people with neighbours

They did some brilliant and renowned car stereos, I still have an 18 year old TV of theirs and nothing came close at the time.

    Best Bang for Lowest Spend

Funny thing is, he's reasonably well off but he doesn't see HiFi as high on his list or spends hence why he's used the Echo up until now but generally, he buys quality goods so I'd say there's no set budget .... but he's not looking for a Rolls Royce just something "reasonable". If he was going...

    Back to passives!

How do you find the Nord Acoustics amp overall, I've been look at their value line amp recently and not sure whether to go for one of those, a Brio Rega or I currently have one ZA3 which isn't being used to could get a 2nd and set them up as mono blocks. My concern with the Nord, I wonder if it...

    Best Bang for Lowest Spend

A friend who's definitely no audiophile has asked me for some suggestions to upgrade from using an Echo Dot in a fairly large Kitchen Living area with Patio doors out to the garden. He was about to buy a pair of Sonos 1's but asked me what else he should consider but wanted to keep the spend...

Excellent sound quality in a system is enough for most people with neighbours

I think someone needs to take up drums .... acoustic that is not electronic and the neighbours need to learn some musical appreciation. Give it a couple of weeks and promise to get rid of the kit .... they'll let you play your stereo at whatever volume you desire :ROFLMAO:

    Goodbye Qobuz, hello Spotify Lossless!

@nopiano & @record_spot I believe bands used to get an advance and paid approx, 10% of an albums sale price BUT there were loads of costs deducted 1st i.e. packaging on every sale, all of the advance and any other costs that could be deducted i.e. recording, artwork, production before...

Excellent sound quality in a system is enough for most people with neighbours

I don't think you need a separate dedicated room and I'm pretty sure 95% + of people don't have one ... I personally like having a surround sound system and a separate amplifier with HT Bypass for HiFi though. With reduced cost of modern day competition, as you say, you don't need to spend a...
