Bluesound Nodes are great but I wouldn't want to use one for volume control as it relies upon an iOS/Android app. Tablet screens don't always give a smooth response when sliding up and down the volume. You might struggle to make small changes and accidentally wack it up full blast! I'd prefer...

To the OP: go to somewhere like 7Oaks, Richer or an independent local shop. Tell them you have got £1500 to spend. Tell them all the things you need: CD / streaming / radio / speakers / etc The leftover £500 is for the inevitable overspend!

I will be mostly trying NOT to buy anything. The other half has already had words.

I listen to music almost every day too. I also find it good to mix up the musical styles. Echo what other say that your hi-fi itself should not be fatiguing. You can always use something like Spotify and play something random that you would never normally listen to.

Audio T have a room where they sell off cheap stuff like open box and end of line products. You can also buy anything Audio T sell as they run the show.

My gut tells me that Cambridge Audio plus Monitor Audio equals earache. One mans medicine is another mans poision though. I would echo what other people have said: keep the speakers and go for a bigger Marantz or something like Hegel.

Ok thanks. I have just ordered a pack of those Milty Polipods so will give it a try. I'm listening to music right now, which I don't *think* is that loud but there is still a slight vibration on the (laminate) floor.

Well if they are a flop, I am looking forward to picking some up at a discounted price in the not too distant future. *biggrin*

Depends on your taste I suppose, whether you prefer more/less bass or a neutral sound. The room they are in plays a massive part too of course.
