    Chord Odyssey 2 > Rumour 2

I found the opposite - Van Damme Blue was horribly muffled and thick-sounding. Rumour sorted it out. Certainly seems capable enough in my system.

    Seriously Hacked Off

Hi. Glad it's sorted. I ordered it as a UK voltage amp, so have no idea if it was adapted or how. I have now remembered (sorry) that the original fuse blew because it was the US standard one, but I replaced it and all was fine for ever afterwards (as far as I was concerned), and I assume that...

Ortofon 2M black vs Super OM40

Thanks for the info. Clarifies what Ortofon told me, which was less illuminating than I'd hoped. I'm assuming that the 78 stylus on the 2M body would give a similar result to using the equivalent stylus on the OM body. If so it will do for occasional use - I have a wind-up machine in the corner...

Ortofon 2M black vs Super OM40

Looking for opinions on above. Not that I can afford the 2M black at the moment, just wondering if it might be worth saving up. And does anyone know if the 2M 78 stylus will fit on any of the 2M cartridges? Thanks.

    Tube rolling

I've tried Tung Sol (NOS) and WE tubes. Tend to prefer the latter (higher frequencies, esp piano, seemed clearer), although different speakers may give different results - I already know the amp well enough!

Clearaudio Concept power supply - any ideas?

Probably wasn't being clear in the early hours. I'm wondering ally, as I have to replace it, if anyone has any ideas as to an improvement. Some kind of linear power supply, for example, or batteries. Otherwise yes, back to Clearaudio... And thanks, same to you.

Clearaudio Concept power supply - any ideas?

Morning all. Have just been listening to a few records, and was noticing what I *think* might be a bit of speed fluctuation (ok so it might be old recordings, but bear with me). I lost the power supply that came with the TT, and am currently using a basic, switchable, multi-ended type. Now I...

Just upgraded to the Van Damme lc-ofc...

It's strange - I once 'upgraded' (or in fact downgraded as it was cheaper, but still neater and highly rated - I had been very sceptical about cables up to this point anyway...) to the studio blue stuff and it was like having a duvet dumped on my speakers. The DIY Cat5 cables I used before were...

    Considering tubes...

I only suggest this because it is based on the phono stage in my preamp, but the Jolida JD-9 seems to get very good reviews too, and ought to be within your price range (if memory serves...). And I think it's great - far better than the Yaqin MS 12-B I had before. The Jolida is probably bigger...

    Mains cables

Can you tell me what model the Belkin is? Currently using a Tacima which made a bit of a difference, but I found I had to plug my amp into it (I know...) to get the best result, and so there was a bit of a compromise. Would prefer to get something better but can't afford minisub prices.

    Technics SL10 - Repair needed

Did look up Vantage Audio and they seem to have a lot of experience in this as far as I can see.

    Technics SL10 - Repair needed

Vantage Audio might be worth a shot. They reckoned they could do mine about 18 months ago, and prices seemed reasonable from recollection. Didn't get round to it as it's only a spare turntable, but they seem to know what they're at so may still happen. Let me know if you have any success!

    roksan kandy k2 -> speakers

As a Roksan amp (of some variety) was used in their development, EB Acoustics EB2 might be worth thinking about. Unless you don't like the idea of the wait. They come in at just under £700, but to my ears sound a lot better than that, and might suit the kit you're considering.

    £16.50 diy mains power cord.

I've always avoided these debates, having been deeply sceptical about the difference any cable could make to a system, beyond the blidingly obvious in terms of design. So I've always had DIY/fairly cheap/Cat 5 cables throughout. Last week I decided it was time to tidy up a bit, so swapped out...
