I can fully recommend Tunespan, enables you to move all your Itunes media to an external hard drive and recreates link to itunes, been using it for 6 months + and have almost filled 1 tb portable drive with my music and films.

I currently have a set of AKG K450's which I use with Ipod or using homeshare on an Ipad (my music in stored in apple lossless format in Itunes). I have £100 - !150 to spend on improving this set up and wonder whether my money would be better spent on a portable DAC & Headphone amp such as Fiio...

I have recently purchased a Marantz MCR603 as a way of playing my music library that is currently sat on my 2 year old Imac. I am now faced with the conundrum of how I connect the Imac to the 603. As the Marantz will be in a different room to my router I cannot run an ethernet cable to it...
