Well I already have a streamer that plays DSD. It just doesn’t upscale unless connecting it to a PC running HQ Player - which would make too much background sound due to the fans. If Shanling’s streamer does upscale, it could sway me to switch, especially as it’ll be matched with their disc...

I own a Clearaudio Concept with upgraded Artist MM cartridge, and the 12V dedicated PSU. It's very good and I'm happy with it. I did get mine before the prices got a bit spenny though, so you may wish to look for a deal or buy used. More broadly though, how wed to vinyl are you? IMO the cost...

Same here, I recently added a CD transport to my setup and since then have had various CDs play all the way through - without having to change sides or discs lol - which is a real joy. I just got a big box of over 50 CDs from Music Magpie for an absolute song, with some right awesome sounding...

Now you mention it yes my Power XRs have the lower vent holes, as well as my Pre-XR. £300 for your 8 is a bargain for sure!

Their earlier power amps had additional holes machined out of the front of the casing - clearly an afterthought.

Me too even though the PSU costs are eye watering. I'm up to seven Cyrus units now and am strongly thinking to get the rack while they're still around, ahead of the inevitable eighth and final unit that will fit in the rack haha.

I’m wondering this too. On the one hand full width allows proper PSUs and connectivity, on the other they’re retrenching into an arguably more traditional space that’s much more competitive, and, yeah, traditional. As I mentioned earlier, I’m not sure their positioning of half width combined...

Their future cost performance is sure going to be interesting to see, now they’re entering the full width space where there’s more competition.

Yeah I'll be keeping an eye on the developments for sure - I've been a Cyrus guy ever since my first Cyrus III amp pushing 30 years ago, and I've always loved the look and sound of their gear. Wishing them well!

I'm sure the CD30n is an awesome piece of kit! Ofc, it's the internals that create noise for the DAC and not so much the other way around as your message implies. So as a basic principle, it's always for this reason that it's better to have your DAC as isolated as possible e.g. not in the same...

this is solid advice @lneill keep your dac away from as much as can adversely interfere with the data signal, as possible

Given this a few days testing now. Took a little while to get it set up and running OK - I kinda jumped in at the deep end with this streamer lark and somewhat beyond into computer audio lol. Had to do a bit of poking around to learn about the apps etc. supported by the funky homebrew style OS...
