Sound is fine with headphones from my phone. I've used various sources from my phone - often streaming from soundcloud/spotify Re volume levels if I keep the same input as turntable it's either no volume or what seems like the right volume but wayy too bass-y, depending on phono/line toggle...

I have a arcam a75 and monitor audio speakers. When playing from turntable via amp the sound quality is great. When I plug my phone in via aux I can't get the sound right at all. Toggling phono/line, trying diff inputs etc Any ideas of what is wrong?

No! Bought second hand maybe that's why. Have heard some chat about 'bi-wiring'(I think this was what @bigfish786 was alluding to) but jumper cable sounds more straightforward and that is what I'm after at this stage haha

Interesting, so potentially worth spending ~£200 on good amp and getting cheaper speakers? Sounds worth spending that little extra to get stands too. Re phono, the turntable I have does have one built-in but presumably won't be as good as a built in one in the above mentioned amps.

Yes it does have a phono built in - it's the budget Audio Technica LP 60 (I think it's switchable? I guess means can buy an external to upgrade?)
