PlugPlayer Setup in Touch - Device URL?

I'm struggling to work out how to configure the PlugPlayer iTouch app with a new Buffalo Linkstation. I've done it before, but honestly have no idea how. The PlugPlayer interface asks for the Device URL, which I know is http://[NAS ip address]:[port number]/Device...something! What should the...

    Hearing loss in left ear...waaaagh!

If everybody posted consistently in capital letters, perhaps hearing impairment would be less of a problem.

Old, wired Squeezebox. Good for Apple Lossless at all?

I should add that, while the player is badly marked, I can't see that there is any obscured code.

Old, wired Squeezebox. Good for Apple Lossless at all?

I can't find a maufacturer's code for it; pointedly it has Slim Devices, not Logitech on the chassis, but has the two digital outputs and headphone socket. But thanks, nads, for the forum tip. 'Hadn't thought that one through...

Old, wired Squeezebox. Good for Apple Lossless at all?

Is there any software which will convert ALAC tracks "on-the-fly" with reasonable results on the older, wired player? (I'm assuming that there were never any upgrades issued to do this more directly.) Or is there any other way, shy of converting the files wholesale to MP3? Grateful for any help!

What is a good way to get in to classical music?

For experimentation, you might want to see what your local Library has or can order in. Here in Suffolk, there are a couple of thousand to rent for £1.25 for three weeks - for single and boxed sets/complete operas. Radio 3 of course has the Proms at the mo: a superb resource with world-class...

I still can't get the Songbird remote app to recognise the laptop - any ideas? Thanks.

    Songbird - remote control.

Thanks, nads. Do you mean the Apple "Remote" app? Yup, apart from a few frewall problems, it's brilliant. But I'm without my NAS for a bit, can't access my whole library and am using Songbird to play what's stored on my laptop + portable drive. I love Songbird - instant convert - but simply...

    Songbird - remote control.

I have installed the free Songbird Remote app 1.2.1 onto a 3rd gen Touch and Songbird 1.7.3.1700 build onto my Windows (Vista 32-bit) laptop. When the app is fired up on the Touch, the laptop Songbird isn't recognised. I have tried to download further rom the Songbird site, but am having...
