    PMC twenty™ 21: A Personal Review

Lovely write-up, thanks. It makes me yearn to hear the 21 to see how it measures up against the 22. Where I am at, the PMC dealer (in 2012) stocked only the 22. The 22 produced a surprisingly amount of bass for its dimensions, I'd expect the 21 to be almost as proficient. Really wonder if it...

    Stick or twist: Arcam A38?

The last Leema amp I heard was the Pulse III tethered to PMC Twenty22. Arcam and PMC are often mentioned as a synergistic combo, but the Leema-PMC sounded just fine to me. Athough I have not heard my A38 through PMC speakers, I reckon it is very likely has a more robust sound than the swift...

Q Acoustics 2020i with Marantz PM 6005 amp and CD 6005

The 2020i won't disappoint. I use a pair in another system with a Musical Fidelity X-A2 which shares similar sonic traits with Marantz amps, and the combo sings. In my experiments, the 2020i can keep up if you're upgrading your source and amp first later on, so it's all-win. SS

Tannoy Revolution DC6T SE Amp match?

If you already like the A19, then you should go for it. ... Alhough, whether it is enough to get the Tannoys going depends on your preferred listening levels, and size of room. Have you considered and listened to the discontinued A28 and A38? They have more power on tap than the A19 and may...

Tannoy Revolution DC6T SE Amp match?

If it were me I'd certainly like to match the smooth detailed sound of Arcam's FMJ amps to the Tannoys. Rega's Brio-R would be another lovely match as would a Naim Nait 5i. Not heard a Cyrus amp matched to the Tannoys, but knowing the Cyrus house sound, I can quite imagine the issues resulting...

    Amplifier + Speakers

I had the C326 and wouldn't want to partner it with entry-level Tannoys unless a 'furry', warm sound is intensely desired. Either Tannoy needs incisive leanish amplification, like one needs a glass of lemon-lime-juice after an Indian curry dinner to help cut through all that clogging ghee. Not...

    Colour? A primary concern?

    Oooh, yeah.

    Help from Rega...

I have heard the Brio-R driving the SCM7, a nice match. But with the bigger SCM11...? :shifty: Oh well, it's worth a punt. The worst case scenario can only be you needing to upgrade to the Osiris in six month's time and that can't be a bad thing, right? cheerSS

    Help from Rega...

You have suffered for so long with the ol' NAD, a further four week wait for your Brio-R will be nothing. It's a lovely singing shoebox and will give you many years of pleasure. Everything Rega makes is quality. Congrats. SS

    My new Rega DAC

After nearly a year of ownership, I found myself settling for Filter 4. Filter 1 has slight traces of sibiliance (through my speakers at least). My other favourite filter is Filter 5. It seems a mite more detailed but I reckon rhythmic music is more PRaTty through 4. I can't make out any...

    My new Rega DAC

Congratulations. The Rega DAC doesn't get much wrong. Full-bodied, detailed and rhythmic. With zero listening fatigue. It could be the component you keep for the longest while the others get upgraded. Be interested to hear which filter you'd choose to settle with. SS

    Arcam vs roksan

The A38 and M2 were on my shopping list last year. I really liked the refinement and smoothness of the Arcam. The Roksan has tighter bass, snappier timing and is more detailed. I thought it was an exciting listen albeit with some treble brightness with certain music, so that affects choice of...

Amplifiers NAIM NAIT XS-2 causes a fatigue during prolonged listening to?

The Mentor One was on my shopping list last year. The treble was too bright and overbearing for my tastes. The Naim is a fine amp, I didn't find it fatiguing at all when I considered it. FWIW, cheerSS

    CA Azur 650 Combo

I wouldn't label the 650A clinical but it does suffer from treble brightness which was apparent through Quad's 21L. Perhaps the 10.1's less resolved treble unit hid it from you. It's a fine budget amp but I went with NAD C326BEE then. Its control of mid-bass is looser than the 650A's but it was...

    C326BEE VS Marantz 6004

Can't comment on NAD-Dyn but I had the C326BEE as a stop-gap amp last year and its flaws were shown up by my SCM11. Through the ATC, the NAD's loose mid-bass was made evident as well as its lack of fine details and a slight veiling over the midrange. I don't doubt the C326 will have the power to...
