    AV Receiver Upgrade Question

Hi Bigboss. Sorry I thought that info was in my signature. I have a Kef iQ 50 (L & R), iQ 60 (Centre) and a pair of KEF EGGS on rear duties. I use a panasonic Plasma (Full HD not 4k) with a high spec KODI HTPC (that I put together myself) that I use to rip my blu-rays too (uncompressed).

    AV Receiver Upgrade Question

Hi everyone I am currently using a Pioneer VS-LX70, a ten year old home cinema receiver. I'm looking to upgrade to something like the Marantz NR1608, anyone have any feedback as to how much - if any - better sounding the newer amp will be? I don't have a chance to demo it (I live in Dubai) and...

    APT-X

In answer to your original question, you need a transmitter and a receiver. It's no good having a headphone that is apt-x compatible if the transmitter (your iPad, for example) doesn't include apt-x as part of it's Bluetooth profile. The opposite applies - you won't get apt-x quality audio if...

    APT-X

Yes it will work. Any dongle plugged into your iPad simply takes the audio out via the 30-pin connector in the same way as if you were plugging it into a dock. Once it does that the transmission method is determined by the dongle - aptx or not. Sennheiser used to make one similar - BTD 300i -...

Best app for video on iPad (DTS compatibility)

Additional - I have neither the time nor the inclination to transcode all my video files into an apple- friendly codec - been there, done that. Pain in the arse! If an alternative app is available where I can sync files onto my iPad without prior transcoding I.e. As is, that's great! It's what I...

Best app for video on iPad (DTS compatibility)

Hello everyone. Until recently I have been using the excellent app km player to watch all sorts of video files on my iPad Air 2, many of which include DTS audio. However since the most recent update to the app, whenever I play a file with DTS audio it says that the "audio codec is not...

    Sennheiser Momentum Wireless 2015

I've heard both of them, and there is no discernible difference (to my ears) between the wired and wireless versions. The noise cancelling is great (I just used the on ears on a flight) and the sound quality was, as I said, the equal of the wired versions.

    Sennheiser RS220 headphones question

Previous contributor is correct. So long as you are using a digital cable there is no further way to improve the sound. You might want to try higher power rechargeable batteries, but make sure they are the same type. Could be an interesting experiment.

    Need New Headphones for Gaming!

Sennheiser headphones in the hd 5-- series are superb for for gaming. I use their PC 363D which are based on the hd 518's and the sound quality, soundstage, and build quality is fantastic. The boom mic you can raise up out of the way and it auto-mutes when you do so. I believe this is a feature...

sennheiser px 100 vs sennheiser cx-300ii

Very different. PX 100 is an open-back, on-ear headphone that has an open, natural sound, punchy bass but being open leaks a lot of sound. CX 300-II is an excellent in-ear headphone but has a much more closed sound, albeit with great sound isolation and a real good sound quality for the price...

    Sennheiser CX300ECO v Sennheiser CX300 II

CX 300 ECO is the mark one version. Still a very good headphone, the only difference between it and the non-ECO CX 300 mark one is the packaging - it is supplied in recycled packaging. CX 300 ECO was discontinued some time ago (2 years +) so it is a little strange that this model is turning up...

    The best of all worlds?

Firstly, you are correct - closed back headphones are better for commuting and "mobile" use as they isolate you from exterior sounds and also isolate your commuter frienmds from your sounds! As rule over-ear headphones do isolate better than on ear but it is all about the quality of the seal...

Compact Bluetooth headphones for iPad Mini

Hi Chebby. If you like Sennhesier and want blueooth headphones then the obvious answer would be the MM 100. They are a little more expensive than the PX 100's and are not open, but the sound quality is great, and beacuse they are on ear you still get good awareness of what is going on around...

    K Array Piccolo anyone?

I have heard these, they are a powered 2.1 system i.e. a pre/power amp, two satelittes and a sub. A friend has them and to be honest they sound amazing. The tech in the satelites is based on some metal or other that generates a huge amount of sound in a very small cone. I'm sure the people at...

Proof that expensive HDMI cables make no difference? Thoughts...

It can't surprise anyone that QED make lots of valid points as to why one HDMI cable is better than another. After all they have a vested interest in making sure they are different i.e. the premium they charge versus the bog-standard. One interesting point, if it is proven after all that...
