    Oppo 203 Connections

I think that HDMI is better than coaxial or optical, HDMI preserves High Definition audio.

Bluray player with 2x HDMI (both having video and audio)

The OP has now been missing for two months and two days, so I guess that I'll not be answering his question.

Sony built a UHD player to kill the Oppo

Ah, thank you. As it happens, since about September last year I have been asking Cambridge Audio when they will release a 4K Blu-ray player to rival either the Oppo 203 or the 205, and each time their answer has been ... they can't tell me yet!

Er, what new Cambridge Audio 4K player?? Did I blink and miss it?

    Disappearing HD channels

I have at least one Freeview HD television and one Humax Freeview HD set-top box in every room, and I have not noticed any disappearing SD or HD channels. I think that in the last four days I've had a couple of messages to retune either television or set-top box, but then all the old channels...

You are too kind, doctor. Now that this forum is a bit calmer, I might be visiting more often!

Panasonic Plasma 60 Series Versus OLED.

You assume that OLEDs are the only alternative to or progression from plasmas. In my case, I don't notice any difference in motion handling between my plasmas and my LCDs, so my next, and last, television purchase will be the Sony 75ZD9, because the LG 77G7, though now less than half of its...

I might be able to help, but the answer would be reasonably lengthy, so as you've been away from the forum for over a month I'll proceed when you return to the forum.

Samsung has announced a 34 ft wide 4K HDR Screen

But when it comes to super-large sizes, the cost increase is more than the corresponding area increase. Something to do with both the difficulty of making super-large size screens without manufacturing defects, and also that far fewer numbers of units of the very large sizes are needed, compared...

    Sony 65ZD9 or the XE9305?

    Excellent post, Leeps *clapping*.

    Sony 65ZD9 or the XE9305?

"Most TVs drop around 50% (around the time that the next year's model is introduced)"?? I'm really not sure about that, I think that you are being optimistic. The really high-end sets hold their value pretty well, certainly NOT dropping by anything like 50% before they vanish from the stores...

I've never heard the PV1 (or PV1D). The nearest that I've come to it was its closest rival the Paradigm Seismic 110, which five years ago I decided was not for me. Nevertheless, What Hi-Fi loved the PV1D, it won a group test in 2012 http://www.whathifi.com/bw/pv1d/review.

    £1000 receiver

You are not wrong. And a 3dB increase in power is quite easy to miss if you are not paying attention. To achieve a doubling in subjective loudness, you need to increase the power by a factor of 10.
