I was very happy but there was nothing clever about it. They only sold Pioneer and one other make (forget which) so choice (at special rates) was very limited.

Are you sure you can't stretch to a 32" Avtex? With both 12 and 240 capability, I used them over a couple of decades and with a soundbar couldn't fault them.
Probably too late now but turning off CEC and looking to see if you have a setting for 'sending audio to TV' or similar on AV, would have cured your TV 'interfering' when not required!
All my 'kit' goes through a protected power strip which itself plugs into a wifi socket which plugs into a wall socket. The wifi socket switches everything off at midnight till 1130 the following day. I would be interested if you discern a difference.
