    Recommend some headphones

I bought a pair of Superlux HD668B after reading the review at headfonia.com and for £35 they sound great, far superior to the Beyerdynamic DT231's they replaced. They are circumaural & semi-open in design & sound neutral & balanced. An unknown brand but the reviews fot the 668B's on the web...

IT guys help with re-formatting an invisible external drive.

Hopefully the above advice should work but if the hard drive cannot be seen in windows at all try Gparted. Download & burn to a cd. Pretty simple to use & NTFS is in the options. Make sure your dvd drive is listed first on your bios boot list.

    just gone premium (spotify)

Example of possible poor ripping is Bobby Gentry - Local Gentry. From track 4 onwards the start of the next track is on the end of the previous track. It's the same in 160 & 320kbs.

How to get a Spotify invite

Andrew Everard:Going rate on ebay seems to be £3.99-£5.99 a pop... Seems a bit steep when you could buy a Spotify Premium e-card gift from yourself to yourself & get premium for a month for £9.99 which will then revert to a free account.EDIT: Wasn't quite sure if you could do this but just...

    asio4all: advanced settings advice needed

Not totally sure what all the settings are for though I do believe most are for recording purposes to reduce latency. This is not an issue when used just for playback hence the settings recommended, I followed instructions from another forum.Yes just the master volume will work as wave is being...

    Old amplifiers

I have a soft spot for old stereo receivers, think it's the glowing dials & meters. Sadly both my receivers (LEAK 3400 & ROTEL RX-802) get very little use due to RFI interference from the central heating & the PC.Also they are very big, the Rotel is 2' wide & the LEAK not far behind so...

    asio4all: advanced settings advice needed

If your using asio4all just for playback move the asio buffer size bar to maximum (2048 Samples), set both latency settings to 0 Samples, set the Kernel Buffers to 4 & leave all the boxes unchecked. If you get some popping even after this (as I did) turn off the in setting on the WDM device on...

    Foobar2000 - User Interface Gallery

Beat me to it while I downloaded it again, install only for it to tell me my 30 days were up. Crafty lot know if you've tried it out before. $50 price tag puts me off the full version but it looked good. Media Jukebox is good if you only do music...EDIT - As is Foobar (don't want to get in...

    Foobar2000 - User Interface Gallery

The full version (J River Media Center 14) has WASAPI support built in if you use vista or 7. ASIO support for XP. Setting should be found in Tools - Options - Playback, may be slightly different as my 30 day trial has run out so I can't check. The freebee Media Jukebox 12 only has ASIO...

    Arcam alpha 8 binding posts

If the Alpha 8 is similar to the earlier alpha models then it all depends on if you are going to use headphones. The top terminals (SP1) are direct so the speakers are on all the time & don't mute. The SP2 terminals are switched & mute when headphones are plugged in.Hope this helps.

Best Music Player App for Windows

I used Mediamonkey with the the kernel sreaming plugin but got annoyed with it's lack of gapless playback so now use J River Media Jukebox 12 with asio4all which has gapless playback. This is on a Windows XP machine with a creative usb sound card.Ive pretty much all of the players out there &...
