    Best compact headphone listening solution?

Thanks @Rodolfo (y) That all sounds good and it certainly sounds like the Desktop Mode (which I wouldn't need to use) adds a lot to your system as a whole. The fact that the M21 powers all of your headphones to a level that is comparable to your other DAPS and systems is also fairly positive.

    Best compact headphone listening solution?

They appear a bargain and would vie for a spot in the rotation with Meze's potentially, but I do feel like I need to read up on the audible downsides of Bluetooth before starting to narrow the field down a bit. I could also presumably use BT headphones with the TV downstairs? I usually only get...

    Best compact headphone listening solution?

I'd either go down the Meze 99 Classic Gen2 path OR possibly the Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S3 route. The latter can be wired but would also open me up to a commuter friendly option with ANC and BT if I felt like committing that audiophile crime; I sort of feel like the portability of a DAP needs to...

    Best compact headphone listening solution?

What headphones do you use with yours @Jasonovich ? Is this where your FiiO FT1 get some use?

    Best compact headphone listening solution?

Hmm. It's tempting; I really don't need one but that music magpie voice keeps chipping away at me. The reality is I probably wouldn't really use this for commuting much at all, so it's a question of whether I can justify forking out about £600 for the M21 and some price-appropriate headphones...

swapping to a music streaming amp

And they're so impossibly tiny that they simply don't add to any space concerns.

    Best compact headphone listening solution?

Oh crikey - so a 2TB card can store the equivalent of 2,000 albums quite easily up to 48 kHz. That's more than enough for the vast majority of people. This could get expensive.

    Best compact headphone listening solution?

@Rodolfo if you have the time and energy, could you give a bit more detail about your FiiO M21 please? You use the same sources as me so I'm interested to understand things like: How easy is it to add / remove tracks / playlists / albums from the TIDAL and Spotify apps? How much space is the...

    Headphone newbie seeking recommendations

The FiiO K11 and K13 are both combined DAC / Amps. I got one because my Wiim Ultra doesn't have an amp and I was being a bit of an aesthete - I wanted a pretty screen for my streamer. So the Wiim just acts as a streaming transport and the FiiO does the heavy lifting. In your case @Entrigo I'd...

    Headphone newbie seeking recommendations

I think they're absolutely fantastic. They're a less costly pair than those on my headphone setup, but they're being used through a more expensive system downstairs and I actually prefer the sound of the overall package down there. The FiiO are significantly better made than the HIFIMAN...

    Headphone newbie seeking recommendations

Do you know if you'd prefer / require open or closed-back? A simple generalisation is that open-back have advantages (more spacious sound) and disadvantages (sound leaks in and out). I think there's an argument that as you cite soundstage as a requirement, then open-backed would perhaps be a...

    Tidal

I always find that if my Bluesound streamer isn't listed in the TIDAL app, that if I just turn my phone or tablet WiFi off and on again, it then appears. It's annoying but it works. It is definitely an issue as my WiiM Ultra and Sonos speakers are always listed.

New Dac the FiiO K13 R2R: Early Impressions

Is there a perceptible lack of warmth with the Ultra versus the ICON (albeit different systems and rooms)? I can't quite wrestle with the logic of adding another box out of curiosity. I love the look of the Warmer and itchy wallet syndrome would absolutely have me looking to get one, but I just...

    Tidal

Well I must be slow on the uptake as I've just realised another nice feature of TIDAL. I searched for and listened to a cover of a song and then TIDAL just queued up a bunch of other covers. I didn't know it could / would do that, but it has unearthed some absolutely lovely stuff.

New Dac the FiiO K13 R2R: Early Impressions

I've had my K13 R2R since mid-October and it just works, which for me is a good thing and aligns with your "I stopped thinking about technical details and just played album after album" comment @Stuart.W.D It's a perfect DAC / Amp for my office and in my view there are only two issues. The PEQ...
