Tidal stutters on phone trying to play highest quality

Is that a limit of the 5G network at that time? I notice you're not connected to your domestic Wi-Fi network.

    Spotify Lossless

And whilst I personally don't really like all of these measurements etc. to prove a point, it is a major ball drop from Spotify. They'll have known that there are very particular nerds in the audio space who would have been pouncing on this instantly, so it entirely devalues their current...

    Spotify Lossless

Lossless has just appeared as an option for me, so I'll be able to hear for myself if there's any tangible improvement.

    Is DAB dead?

Seriously. You should hear the language she uses when ordering shopping from the Sainsbury's website. It's an education.

    Is DAB dead?

My DAB literally is dead. We had a 15+ year old Roberts DAB / CD player in the kitchen that we used for background radio in the mornings, but it has been gradually been failing (distortion that sounds like a signal issue, but it isn't) and totally gave up the ghost earlier this week. For the...

    That is not good.

There are a bunch of reasons why Chinese manufactured products are cheaper than Western equivalents. An overly simplistic pair is simply the scale of the production and labour ecosystem over there. That can't be replicated in the West so we'll likely never see prices even vaguely approaching...

Upgrade my HiFi, looking for suggestion

But how is music from TIDAL reaching the speakers? You mention an amp and speakers, but no streamer to receive the data from TIDAL? Unless you have the Active LS50s which won't need an amp, but if you have those, why have the Brio? I'm just confused about what you actually have at the moment :)

Upgrade my HiFi, looking for suggestion

What is your current source? You mention already decent amp and speakers and it sounds like you only stream music? What do you currently use to do that? Unless anything is clearly missing sonically, I'd just get yourself a decent streamer to use with what you already have and save yourself a...

Upgrade my HiFi, looking for suggestion

Hmm. An upgrade to spend about 5x the value of what you currently have? How does that come about?

    Your Song/Track of the Day

No idea how a TIDAL link will work on here, but it recommended that I listen to Jimmy Wahlsteen and he's not remotely new but is an extremely talented acoustic guitarist. https://tidal.com/browse/album/10136037?u

Question Suggestions for foundational parts of a longer term vinyl setup

I was so, so close to getting some this morning :) Went down to Audio-T and listened to some of these and the less costly 105 SILVA. Both are a big jump from my current headphones and the jump from the current ones to the SILVAs was more or less matched with the move up to the Pro from the...

    National Album Day 2025 - 18th October

Another one of these marketing campaigns to get people buying records; basically looks like Record Store Day with a different name and this year the theme is: Rock. Sixty albums in total being reissued, with Reef being the only one that I want: Allman Brothers - Idlewild South Amy MacDonald -...

How much are you likely to pay for headphones in the near future?

£500-£1,000 for me, because my current set are definitely the weakest part of the chain for me, and I've learned with my approach to upgrading all the other parts of the system that I end up costing myself more in the long run if I just go for an intermediate jump. As ever, I feel that what...

I'm not the biggest buyer of compilations but I love B.B. King and three LPs for £15 seemed like quite the deal. Great compilation of releases from the first ~15 years of his brilliant career. Blue vinyl too 🤩
