Fiddled about with speaker placement, just for the sake of it earlier. Main goal here was to get away from the cupboard that was close to the left-hand speaker. Arguably the speakers are as much as a metre too narrow now, but there's no tangible downside to this positioning yet and they're...
That's a generally punchy set of amps (and bloody hell the Primaluna is pretty!) I'll be interested to see how the NAIT 50 gets on with them as it's a feisty little chap.
Yeah my system is in that thread but just swap the ARCAM for the little Naim and double the amount of vinyl ;)
Thanks 👍
What amp are you using?
Inevitably I'm really warming to my current speakers at exactly the point where I'm getting inquiries about them on Gumtree 😁
Not sure what the technical reasons for a lower powered amp with demanding speakers fatiguing the ears would be, but socks as...
That's some selection to work through! Did you have to take your amp with you, or was there one in the shop?
What I think I'm going to do is ask the store to get in a good selection of stand-mount options up to around £2k and I'll go in for a couple of hours to see what seems best. Were there...
We seem to have lost the vinyl thread, maybe in a spam clear out?
Anyway, another excessive shopping spree today but I picked up four albums from my wishlist.
I do like a bit of Credence Clearwater Revival.
@skinnypuppy71 I've seen you mention the Petite Classic's in another recent thread. If you have time, could you let me know what you like / dislike about them please?
Floor-standers are ruled out on two counts - first they don't suit the space and second my wife won't have them, so it's a definite no-no  The P5s are pretty compact too but she just thinks they'll "feel" bigger, and I can get her point.
The Neat's have been ordered by Audio-T and...
It has been a blast so far. Not always perfectly structured in approach, but with the right sort of ambition! One or two more steps to go.....
You are, of course, correct! The layout is a problem but that's a gift in the long run because when I do finally get a more suitable space, I think...
The Petite Classics. They have some pretty outstanding reviews, the brands are known to synergise well, and they don't seem very demanding on paper.
They're also incredibly compact (10 cm less depth than the KEFs) so I can give them more room to breathe within the same stand footprint as the KEFs.
My only reservation about them really is the tone, and that is quite a big deal. The NAIT has unlocked the detail that the KEF reviews all highlight and that wasn't the case with the Arcam. I really enjoy that aspect of them, but I do crave more warmth and character.
Audio-T's third-party buyer...
I sometimes wonder if we're the same person :)
I tried the 105's when I picked up my turntable and was very impressed by the comfort levels as well as the build quality and sound. They didn't have the 109 Pro in stock but given your praise of the NAIT 50, I think I can probably trust your...
I'm not thinking of changing anything related to the amp, turntable or streamer. Done with that for now!
Headphone suggestions gratefully accepted - budget up to maybe £750.
Thanks! I can hand on heart now say that I have zero intention of looking at other amps, streamers or turntables. I'm completely satisfied with those parts of the system and really I shouldn't have any doubts about the speakers either (but we know how that's likely to go.....)
It's a super...
It's beautifully tactile.
The DIN cable arrived so I've thrown Voodoo Chile and now Where Do You Think You're Going? at it through the ICON and it handled them so well.
I'm a bit "new toy" giddy but it does seem really very good. Lots of listening to be done and still no sign of speaker...
It does seem like a peculiar design decision or oversight. Apparently the DIN cable arrives imminently so I'll find a test track to stream with distinct left / right channel tones.
EDIT: I've actually switched them so they DO cross over, as it seems like it's a legacy of "how things used to be"...
