Would that suggest that they could be described as bright/harsh? Which is the problem I have with my current system. I'm keen to try some actives partly to avoid the whole amp and speaker matching thing; with different combinations giving a different sound etc.

Are the Artist 5s often used in a stereo/more hi-fi setup too? Most of the other info I've seen about them has them being used as desktop monitors.

Oh I see, I thought it might have been an alternative to using the XLR and phono outputs on the Dac.

Perhaps look at a BK XLS200 or XXLS400. I have the XLS 200, and I've seen BKs recommended on here quite often.

I was thinking something like the Cambridge Audio DacMagic Plus, so that I have the volume control and a headphone amp too. Also, could the stereolink outputs be used to add a subwoofer? My BK has RCA inputs so I don't see why that wouldn't work.

Has anyone heard a pair of speakers from this range? I'd be quite interested in the 5s with a DAC at the other end for volume control and all the inputs. Doesn't look like theres been much on here about them, but thanks in advance if anyone can comment on these.

Thanks MajorFubar, I am on a Mac so I'll have a look at the XLD software. I'd been trying to think of ways using itunes but everything seems to end up with duplicate files everywhere!

Hello all, I have just recieved my new HTC One and put some music onto it forgetting that about half of my itunes library is apple lossless files. Could anybody recommend a converter which I could use to convert the files and to make them smaller - down to something like a 256kbps itunes file...

Perhaps something like an Arcam rlink between the apple tv and amp?
