    Question Harsh?

So I hooked up the Q3020's last night for a comparison. Although there was less of an edge to the vocals, there was also less of everything to be honest. Less scale and depth certainly and probably a slightly 'flatter' less dynamic quality. I quickly reverted back to the B&Ws. I need to get to a...

    Question Harsh?

So last night I played around with the 'toe-in' of the B&Ws, quite drastically as suggested earlier in this head and that certainly had a noticeable effect on what I am hearing...it did seem to take a degree of edge off the vocals. I am going to hook up the Q Acoustics on Saturday to see (hear!)...

    Question Harsh?

It's not a yawn... I totally get what you are saying and with a bit of cash burning a hole in my pocket, I'm excited about finding a dealer to listen to some demos and find the 'right sound' for me. That's what it's all about I guess, something that sounds good to your own ears?!

    Question Harsh?

Lots of food for thought there thanks! Nothing new as far as the room is concerned or new gadgets so maybe we can discount that. It's not just Adele to be honest, I used her as a good example as probably the most 'grating'! I'll disconnect everything, have a a good tidy up of cables etc and try...

    Question Harsh?

Not sure about that really, in theory the B&Ws should have better components, build quality etc otherwise why the premium in cost for anything? Regardless, it will be an interesting comparison and I'll let you know what I hear! 👍

    Question Harsh?

Quite a difference in cost? The Qs were about £160....the B&Ws £550...

    Question Harsh?

Actually it is a first floor room in a 3 storey house but with enough soft furnishings to to the edge off the presentation....I think!

    Question Harsh?

Well I've had them for about a year now so they are well run in....I have some Q Accoustics 3020's laying around doing nothing so may hook them up for a (slightly unfair) comparison...

    Question Harsh?

Yeah, afraid so. That's my plan (to find a local'ish dealer) to audition, as I'm looking to add a Rega Planar 3 at Christmas so looks like I might be looking for either new speakers or amp too! Lesson learned.

    Question Harsh?

Sadly not, you're going to tell me that they're not a great match aren't you......

    Question Harsh?

Hi everyone, My system comprises a Marantz CD606UK Edition CD player, Rega Brio amp and B&W 606 S1 speakers on B&W stands filled with kiln dried sand, spiked to a wooden floor and bluetac between speakers and top plate. The components are connected with Chord Company C-Line interconnects and...

The best amp for B&W 606 up to $700

I've been using a Rega Brio amp for the last year with my 606 S1's and have been delighted with the sound.... I have a hugely varied taste in music from the Stereophonics to Katie Melua to AC/DC and this pairing does a pretty good job with putting a smile on my face whatever I'm listening too...
