    Shure SE425 lack of bass

Hi, well you have to use it with the iPhone camera adapter so there is more bulk. If you’ve got it in a pocket then not too bad, but if you‘re using the phone as well then it gets a little trickier. But for me, the sound boost from the dac is worth it:)

    Shure SE425 lack of bass

Hi, I have a pair of Shure SE425’s with Snugs custom tips and am really disappointed with the lack of bass. Wondering whether the 535’s would worth the upgrade, also the AKG N40’s are available at a decent price now too. I stream Tidal through a Dragonfly Red from my iPhone...Any suggestions for...

    Sony X800, load of rubbish....

With the reported problems on here, I went for the X700. I don’t watch that many films so will do for now, faultless so far and can always upgrade later.

    Marantz SR7010 Settings

I only use the SR7010 for movies, my Hegel is used for music and is connected to the Marantz through the pre-outs as a power amp for movies.

Thanks for doing that Electro... A pretty good track selection, I don’t disagree with you, some better than others which you would expect. Maybe I had listened to tracks that weren’t such great quality and that gave me an unfavourable overall impression leading to my original post. I have also...

Thanks for your input Cno...plenty to digest :) As my only source is Tidal Hifi, I don’t have any stored music or CDs, does the choice of streamer become less important in the chain?

You’ve probably hit the nail on the head, managing expectations.. (I stream everything through Tidal Hifi) I thinks it’s just overall SQ, I find the perceived sound quality of some recordings is dictating what I listen too, it’s like I can’t get out of audition mode and actually enjoy the...

I guess the question of musical talent is pretty subjective... probably rock rather than pop, but the likes of Springsteen, Rolling Stones, Walk The Moon, Rush, etc. Maybe I expect too much, it’s just that some music sounds fantastic and some very mediocre.

Hi....Just wondering if there are any amplifiers / speaker combinations that are known to be more forgiving with lesser recordings, or even certain music genres? My system (Hegel H360 / ATC SCM7s) is great with jazz, blues, acoustic and close mic recordings, but often, if if put some rock / pop...

    Marantz SR7010 Settings

Hi I settled on the Flat Audyssey mode with all speakers at 80Hz crossover. Still not 100% sure the differences are that noticeable, but as I tend to listen to movies at a fairly high volume, it seems to give a little more clarity and I’m not concerned about damaging my main speakers.

    Marantz SR7010 Settings

Hi newlash09 Thanks for your reply, my room is similar size to yours so I’ve changed to Flat mode and dropped the fronts and centre to 60 Hz crossover. I’ll see how I get on...

    Marantz SR7010 Settings

Hi...Last night I experimented with the Marantz 7010’s Audyssey settings. I’m running a 5.1 system. Options are: Off; L/R Bypass; Flat and Reference. Also tried different crossovers, not much difference but maybe slightly more clarity at 80Hz than 60Hz. In all honesty, I couldn’t hear any...
