    Speaker issues

Thanks all for your help, much appreciated. Since your Neat Iota recommendations, I've also been looking at the Neat SX3. I can make the size work snd they look like they can be placed fairly close to the the wall. If anyone has any experience of these and if they are of a warm sound? Thanks...

    Speaker issues

Hi I need some help. I have recently moved house and the new layout of my listening room is causing me problems. My set up was a Rega Elex R, B+W706s2 and bluenode and turntable. I have now sold the speakers, they were too big and to be honest I want a speaker with a warmer sound and not...

    Advice - turntable upgrade

Thanks for that. I'm down in Brighton, they have a decent Audio T here, so probably worth asking. Didn't think they would loan turntables

    Advice - turntable upgrade

Hi all, I'm currently running an 8 year old project carbon turntable and upgraded stylus, blue 2m ortofon. It is connected to a rega elex r amp and in general happy with the sound. I'm looking to upgrade to a rega p3 with the standard elys 2 cartridge. I'd appreciate people's thoughts as to...

    Question B&W 706

I personally don't they are, I don't like bright. But they can lean that way if they are not partnered very well. They will probably sound very similar to the 606 , just more detailed. Used to have 685 s2 with the rega and also enjoyed that. Before that I had cyrus amps and they really were...

    Question B&W 706

Hi. I've been using them for the last few years. I use them in conjunction with a rega elex r, bluesound node 2i and project turntable. In general I'm very happy with them, clarity and detail is excellent. I had demoed a lot of speakers and these fitted well. It is a fairly warm sound...

    NAIM NOVA and BW 705S2

Hi gfunk I've got a set of 706 s2 with a rega elex r. I can relate to what you are saying. I initially used them with qed speaker cable and eventually changed it to audioquest and it brought about a warm sound and devolved the brightness. Good luck!! I think these are great speakers and not...

    Rega Elex R v Naim Nait 5si

Hi. I have the elex r and use it with a set of b&w 7 series speakers. The sound is warm and detailed, I love this amp and always sounds so good. Prior to this I used cyrus, appreciate the quality and detailed sound, but was far too bright for my liking . I also demoed the brio, great fun but...

    Stand mount Speaker Stands

Hi all, I need to buy speaker stands for my b&w 706 speakers. The actual b&w stands look to be really expensive, up to now they have always sat on heavy duty furniture. Can anyone recommend decent stands, ideally secondhand? I have zero knowledge in this area. I've also got a two year old...

Cambridge CXA81 versus Rega Elex R

I've got the rega elex-r, it is as described in the reviews. It just sounds so good, I spent years with cyrus gear before hand and can't compare it. I use it with b&w 786, and bluesound node 2i a. Built in phono stage is a look very good. It's so musical, detailed and warm sound. Always gets my...

Question Trying to pick speakers to go with old LP12 and new Rega io amp

I run a set of b&w 706 with my rega elex-r. Sounds great, detailed warm sound! Before I used a set of b&w 685s2, also good. I demoed loads of speakers and got to say I really like the combination.

    Turntable hum - help please

Hi Gray, Al ears, Thanks for your help and advice, much appreciated. Ive now reverted back to the original cable I was using and the hum is much better. Even more so when the node isn't connected. Re the distance between the turntable and the amp, it's very close in proximity. I think I'll...

    Turntable hum - help please

Thanks for coming back to me. It is earthed from the turntable to the amp, it has a built in phono stage. When I remove the earth cable to see if the hum increases, it hardly makes any difference. The node is 0.5meters away, as far as I can stretch it now.
