The cables I was refering to were power cables,I found they did reduce the background noise on my amps . They did not make any noticeable difference to the audio,and with my age and its setbacks on hearing didn't think it would.

Yes,they are closed back,really comfortable, the maker recommends 40hrs burn in,well, all I can say is they sound amazing now so looking forward to future listening

I did replace the speakers myself,very straightforward no real technical experience required, though I was a computer engineer back in the day,now 75,I feel you should really do it yourself, if there is a difference when done by experts I don't think you'll notice it. Give it a go👍

Just an update from my initial post in May of last year. New Kef's are working fine with same settings on my amp as of when my problem occurred. Can only conclude that there was a problem with the original cones.
