Another question about the Super Dreadnoughts

When you say it's not a problem do you mean you did or didn't, have to use tape afterwards (I assume you filled them?) Just so I know whether to buy tape as well Also I know these stands are braced. But I can't tell by looking, do they come ready assembled in 'one piece'? Would be a great help...

Another question about the Super Dreadnoughts

I appreciate your comment but I am really looking for anyone who has these stands and has either filled them, and/or had problems/no problems with the bung for the centre tube being loose (or not), to give me a better idea of what to expect and whether this problem is something Partington have...

What was your experience with the bungs? Did you find them loose?

Partington Super Dreadnoughts Vs Atacama HMS 1.1

I am *perhaps* about to buy some Super Dreadnoughts, but I am usually dead against spending that kind of money on something and having to use gaffer tape. I was all set to buy them then I saw this topic about people needing to gaffer tape the 'loose' bung for the centre tube, which seems...

Another question about the Super Dreadnoughts

Hi. Partington Super Dreadnoughts Vs Atacama HMS 1.1

Many thanks for all the replies. Does anyone know how many 7kg tubs of Atabites I would need to fill the Super Dreadnoughts about two thirds up? (I have 4 tubs aleady which filled up some quite large stands...and I assume this will be enough...?) Thanks

Partington Super Dreadnoughts Vs Atacama HMS 1.1

I am considering the Partington Super Dreadnoughts or the Atacama HMS 1.1 speaker stands to upgrade to. I am looking for opinions on which would be best. Details I have noted so far are that the Dreadnoughts are Graphite whereas my speakers are black (although this does not matter too much if...

    Atabites

I'm noticing a lot of gloriously controlled and solid bass. Partly due to the sheer weight of the Atabites, partly due to the capacity of the stands. I used 14kg of Atabites in each stand. My set up is B&W 685 s2, B&W STAV24 matching stands, and a Cyrus 6 XPd with direct USB as my source...

    Atabites

To the last two posters : Many thanks for giving me a bit of peace of mind. Yes the stands were left with the top plates off for a few days anyway. Now I know there's nothing to worry about. I am a manic idiot at times, and several people on these forums have helped me a number of times now...

    Atabites

Thanks to everyone for your replies. spinynorman and major fubar, with regard to your last posts, this is exactly what my question was - as you say the zinc-coated metal won't retain the moisture like sand does, so the question is what happens to it, does it just continue floating around various...

    Atabites

Hi, I am looking for an answer that will perhaps settle my mind somewhat. A few drips of water were accidentally left over in a measuring jug I had used to pour in metal speaker stand filler. These got poured in to my new stands. I don't know into which of four speaker columns. The stand filler...

    Speaker choice

OK so I've been researching this for hours now, I'm going round in circles, and I can't audition anything where I am. I have a Cyrus 6 XPD amp. When I plug my old Dali Zensor 1s in the treble is perfect. When I plug in my damaged Dynaudio Excite X12s, it is just neutral (I could do with it a bit...

Any opinions on Cyrus and B&W

Hi everyone. I am looking at buying new speakers for my Cyrus 6XPD amp. I don't have the chance to audition them.(1 is only available occasionally second hand). I have narrowed it down to the B&W 685 S2 or hopelessly searching for B&W CM1s, not wanting to shell out for the S2 version of these...
