+1 , I see dave point , a cheap pair of standmounts will sound better on a well matched high end system, better than they could on a cheap amp, but.... why comprimise, just stick a better pair on , you will get better sound i have never seen the point of putting boxy sounding cheap stanmounts...

if you have the room and it seems you have the 2050i are now stunning value , some prefere them over the newer 3050, they seem a lot heavier and better built too, i have just 'downgraded' from a more expensive pair of floorstanders , which i felt were not a good match with my amp. sold those...

i just got a brand new pair of discontinued 2050i from richers for a knockdown price, without an audition. I was wiorried i might not like them, but no worries, deep underpinning bass and good spacial definition, a genuine bargain buy if the 3050 are an improvment they must be excellent...

the onkyo 9010uk is better sounding than the denon pma720, imo, heard it, the denon sounds hard and tiring, I have the denon but putting it on fleabay. the onkyo more natural, I was reading a review by andrew everard? , title, 'can a budget amp sound this good',,,,yes was the conclusion...

thanks, kind of makes sense, but that surely cant be the rule, my rotel has only 40w rms as quoted output even less than the 9010 at 44w, yet, the transformer in the ra10 has even more power consumption than both of the onkyo amps , yet rotel make point of using heavy high qaulity toroids, so...

thanks , might give the marantz a listen, if I can find a dealer with it in stock, i like the balance of the kefs, easy placement due to the dual concentic driver and lack off bass ports, they can bring the character out in the mid range, but feel the rotel isnt giving them th best, the creek...

I now have some funds to upgrade my system, i think possibly my other components deserve a bigger amp, especially the speakers, I have had a few nice budget amps in the past , the rotel being the best and most involving of them all, but feel worried when i push the volume a bit of it running out...

the 9010uk is great little amp, not heard the non uk version, but it sounds better than its bigger brother the 9030, the 9010uk has a higher wattage transformer than the 9030 but appears to have a lower wattage output, why is this?

its hard to better the AE109 imo unless you spend up to a grand, i still have a pair, i have owned them for 17 years, and cannot get rid , ok i got the kefs as an upgrade, but the AE can give them a run , and in some ways sound better, they just lack a touch of refinement i sometimes connect...

dont agree, i have gone through a few budget amps in my life, including marantzpm6004, pm7001 , nad c352, onkyo9030, kenwood 3020se , denon pma720a sansiu aug30x and rotel ra10, non of these peak at 9.00 oclock , and keep getting louder until well past 1200 clock uncomfortably so...

the pioneer N50A has a very capable sabre dac, has a host of options including spotify connect ,internet radio, music server input, usb devices etc etc, and can be used as a standalone usb dac to a pc , and a decent one at that, maybe you could get a cambrige audio transport only player...
