I'm not sure if you're joking or not. But the idea that you must spend £3000 on an amplifier to power some speakers is a bit ridiculous. I know people like to think spending huge amounts on amps is worthwhile, but this is not new technology. Take your amp to a HiFi shop and do a blind A/B test...

I recently bought a Fosi Audio BTA20 and some Acoustic Energy AE100 MK2 speakers which are quite nice on my desk. Alternatively some Dali Oberon 1 speakers with the Fosi Audio ZA3 would be good. Otherwise I think active speakers are often recommended.

I've just bought a Yamaha A-S500 second hand on eBay. Now I'm looking for some good speakers to go with it. I'm thinking maybe the Dali Opticon 2 MkII as I've got a pair of Dali Oberon 5s which are nice.
