Best 1 Game so-far for PS4 or XboxOne

Witcher 3 or Metal Gear Solid V for me. Hopefully both will be eclipsed by Fallout 4 (after the first couple of patches!)

USB Cable for sound? What Price?

I don't really understand the "it either works or it doesn't" logic. Let's say you are transporting CD quality audio from a PC into an external DAC using a USB cable. My understanding is that the DAC will be accepting the digital data in chunks of 16 bits each and will reconstitute the analogue...

Can you think of 9 reasons to buy a 4K TV?

There is a B&O store close to me. I was primarily interested in seeing some of the other brands they carry (namely McIntosh and Sonus Faber) but I was drawn to the Avant as soon as I saw it. I think the debate around 4K TVs has parallels with the one that happened when moving to HD. Some...

Can you think of 9 reasons to buy a 4K TV?

I saw the 85" B&O BeoVision Avant yesterday and it was absolutely gorgeous. Notwithstanding its spec being a little lacking.

    Arcam FMJ UDP411 review, £1,200

I wanted to get the UDP411 in order to match the rest of my system, but couldn't justify the extra cost over the Oppo 105D given the limitations that it has. As well as those mentioned, according to the manual it doesn't play FLAC files. In the US, the Arcam sells for $1999 compared to $1299...

Step Down Transformer for Home Cinema Set Up

Matt, I did the opposite - I moved from the UK to the USA and wanted to take my Pioneer plasma, Onkyo amp and various other components. I bought a Goldsource voltage converter from Amazon. These can be used in either step up or step down mode. Like you say, you have to make sure you have...

    Have ARCAM lost their way?

I agree that there is a distinct lack of information coming out from Arcam about their new products. The UDP411 and A49 are examples of this. Although there has been some press coverage of the latter at trade events and so on, I really haven't heard anything about the former even though it is...

Need a new chair for home cinema room

I don't think a 1 year guarantee for the leather is long enough. Palliser offer a 5 year guarantee for the leather.

Need a new chair for home cinema room

I tried the original Herman Miller Eames lounge chair and it is the most comfortable chair I've ever sat in and beats dedicated home cinema style seating from the likes of Palliser. Agree that it is silly money. If the "exact copies" are just as comfortable, it would be worth considering.

Need a new chair for home cinema room

I've heard bad things about La-Z-Boy reliability over time - leather getting torn etc. It put me off getting one. Stressless a better bet, in my view.

    BDP 103 4k outpu

It might be related to where the upscaling is being performed. The Samsung player is probably not performing any upscaling (does it even upscale to 4K?), but rather the TV is upscaling the image and hence reports it as being 4K.

2015 tvs what can we expect ?

Every time I've seen a 4K set in action, I have never been less than impressed. To me, it represents a clear step up from the 1080P I have now (I bought one of the first Pioneer Kuros and love it dearly). One thing I don't need, however, is for the TV to curve. That just feels like a gimic...

    Vortexbox, Vortexbox

Yes, I have been seriously considering getting one of these. Compared to the likes of the Naim Unitiserve, they are good value. The addition of DSD support is especially appealing.

    CDR Better than original ?

I understand the digital is digital argument, but how do you know that the laster reading a CD correctly identifies all 1's as 1's and all 0's as 0's? This could apply equally to copying a CD or simply playing it.
