I can also use the Spotify desktop app to play directly to the speakers, although I don't currently have a HD subscription to see how that sounds. Maybe I should try and see how that, or Tidal, sounds?

The NAS is connected to the PC vie Ethernet cable, and the PC to the Speakers via USB, no optical cable used.

Thanks Jason and Twinkle, some great things said there. I didn't even know about the WiiM mini. I also had to look up about Toppings etc. This combo could be awesome, the only problem is that I have a huge collection of music files, and they are sitting in a Ethernet NAS.

Thank you. I was just looking at Supra cables. Swedish company, right? Personally in the case of USB cables, I would expect it to make a very small difference, due to better shielding, but now I am curious to try one. Also, what is OP?

The speakers are awesome. Definitely a step up from my previous monitors. I guess I've build my expectations too high, reading the 5 star review on the magazine, and I've just always wanted to ask them if amplified speakers like these can be improved even further with an external DAC. Thank you...

Its usually 320 mp3s or FLACs. The speakers are on the desk. I know they are not in the ideal position. just wondering if an external DAC would overlap the speakers' internal one. Lots of smart arses here though

I am mainly listening to music playing media player classic on my PC through a USB connection to the Q Acoustics M20 Speakers. The sound is good, but I don't feel it is exceptional. Regardless of that, which might just be a wrong impression on my side, would things improve if I added an external...
