    Hearing degradation

Being pretty deaf myself I would advise your mother to have a hearing test and hearing aids fitted as necessary. I am sure your mother has no idea just how much she is missing, not just for listening to her hi-fi but for life in general. I was reluctantly persuaded (!!!) to have a test by my...

    Leema Acoustics - any love?

Thanks for the kind thought, appreciated, but as you say a bit too far.

    Leema Acoustics - any love?

Hi insider9, I am based in deepest Suffolk. There is a dealer near Eye who sells Leema but of course different room and different speakers. If my other half eventually weakens then I would like an honest opinion before I make a trip to bother a dealer and risk the wrath of swmbo. (Love her...

    Leema Acoustics - any love?

I bought a Tacuna mkII a number of years ago thanks to PP, your fault for waxing so lyrical about Leema :) I would love to know just how much difference there is between the standard version and the Anniversary. Worth upgrading or just a bit better? I mentioned a new amp to the other half but...

    TV as secondary purpose

The simple answer is yes, should sound much better as your hi-fi speakers will be much better than the tiny puny speakers in any TV. I always play my TV's sound through my Hi-Fi.

    Flac or Wave?

Strangely enough I have just come back from a demo of the new Spendor D9 driven by a pair of Devialet 220's. The dealer just for our interest played the music several times, sometimes ripped as flac and sometimes in WAV. The RIPS were done from the same CD on the same equipment using dbpoweramp...

Oh s@@@! What have I done?

So carefully objectively choose your neutral system then get it home only to dicover it is not neutral anymore due to the room and furnishings. Oh dear better get subjective until it sound neutral again! :)

Oh s@@@! What have I done?

A visit to the Royal Oak will have an effect on the perceived sound for PP so that's it for tonight. *drinks* To be continued.........

    Spendor A5 Fault?

Why not email Spendor? I have always found them very helpful. My Spendors will happily go so loud it is difficult to stay in the room without any clipping or distortion or any other problems.

    speakers for leema pulse anyone?

Interesting. Out of curiosity I googled Leema Pulse/Stream combo, first page had one review which gave the combo as smooth in it's own right and 4.5 stars out of 5. Just goes to show reviews are just an opinion I suppose and very much dependent on the listener, the speaker used and the acoustics...

    speakers for leema pulse anyone?

As far as CD player goes I use the Leema Stream which matches the Pulse, if you can find one it works well with the Pulse both sonically and of course aesthetically.

    speakers for leema pulse anyone?

I too have a Pulse which to my ears and in my room sounds great with Spendor. Of course a lot depends on how much money you have available too!

This is the sort of retro amp I would look for....

They are different rather than one better than the other. Sorry I can't be more specific but it does rather depend on what you like. It is not easy for me to swap them over for a comparison the way things are set up it is more a case of remembering my thoughts when I originally changed thinks...

This is the sort of retro amp I would look for....

The trouble is PP that I do not have a wide knowledge of amps so it is hard to say. That plus the fact that it was used with different speakers to what my more modern amp is connected to. The original set up was the Pioneer feeding into Roger Studio 1 speakers which sounded warmer than my...
