    Canton DM50 Resonance

As an experiment, I'll place some plywood under the DM50 and see how it sounds. I'm away for a fortnight so I'll leave it until I return.

    Canton DM50 Resonance

Thanks. Will do. I did wonder whether the glass shelf was vibrating in sympathy. Rather than a piece of wood. does someone market a mat suitable for dampening down the vibration?

    Canton DM50 Resonance

Not necessarily. I can't place my TV on top of the DM50 as the TV's legs splay out and are too wide apart.

    Canton DM50 Resonance

My DM50 is sited on the second tier of an open three tier glass TV stand. The 40" Samsung TV is on the top tier, and a bluray player and TalkTalk box are on the bottom. Certain male voices, mainly newsreaders, create a booming echo. I've tried various settings with the bass turned down but am...

Canton DM50 power lead will not fit

Thanks again Clare. I've adjusted the lipsynch for the TV. Yet to get hold of a blu-ray disc. After shelling out for an adaptor lead, I have established with Samsung that the TV external speaker port is not working so am sticking with the direct Youview box to DM50 link which is very good to...

Canton DM50 power lead will not fit

Thanks Clare. I need to adjust the lipsynch for the Youview TV connection as the sound is slightly ahead of the picture. I appreciate that I could find out by trial and error, but which way do the LIP + and - keys work on the DM50? I assume that one key delays the sound and the other advances...

Canton DM50 power lead will not fit

I'm slowly getting there. I connected the Sony blu-ray player via the co-ax cable and bought a toslink/mini toslink cable for the Samsung TV. The Sony worked fine when I went into the BBCi player facility. I'm not a particular fan of Elbow but the sound was certainly better than via the TV...

Canton DM50 power lead will not fit

Thanks for the replies. Richer Sounds sent me a replacement lead which came today and fits. It is quite a task rearranging all the connections and hiding the cables within the metal shaft of the glass TV stand so I will be leaving it until the weekend. I shall be putting the DM50 on the...

Canton DM50 power lead will not fit

I'm still waiting for some longer HDMI cables to be delivered but decided to power up the DM50 to see whether it remained in standby or could be switched off. I need to know this in order to decide how to connect my kit to the power sockets. However, I could not even plug in the UK power lead...

Where do I put my Canton DM50?

The DM50 was delivered today and I found that the Toslink cable did not fit into the Samsung TV. Samsung finally advised me that the connection is a 3.5mm mini jack so I've had to order a suitable cable. I've decided to put the DM50 on the second shelf and the other two boxes on the bottom so...

Where do I put my Canton DM50?

I've ordered a Canton DM50 which should arrive in the next day or two. The Samsung 40" TV has four splayed legs and sits on top of a three glass plate shelf unit. On the second shelf is a Sony blu-ray player with a TalkTalk YouView box on top of it.. The bottom glass plate which is empty sits...

    Connecting soundbar to TV

Thanks. I have a Sony BDP-S570 blu-ray player with a co-ax output. According to the manual, it will output Linear PCM or "Dolby Digital", the latter to be selected if the audio device has a "built-in Dolby Digital decoder".

    Connecting soundbar to TV

I had thought of buying the Philips HTL5120 soundbar but I am now favouring the Canton DM50 for aesthetic reasons. The latter does not have an HDMI input port, but Samsung assure me that my TV, a UE40C8000XK model, does have the required optical output port, despite the user manual showing the...

    Connecting soundbar to TV

A further thought and question. The user manual for the TV shows the optical cable going into an optical connector which I do not have. I assume that one end of the adaptor is a female Toslink connection for the optical cable but I don't know the spec of the male connnection to the TV...
