Hello, I'd go for the 8 DAC QX because it has a better DAC module. The newer models aren't a notable improvement on the last generation.

Both are good amps. The Cyrus sounds crisper and more precise while the Rega has more of a sense of fun. I think the Cyrus is ultimately the more detailed of the two, but that isn't always the most important thing.

I think the newer budget amps will probably sound a little clearer and more agile, but the Arcam is likely to have much more when it comes to scale and authority.

The Dragonfly is a USB device while the module used in the PM6005 can only deal with coax and optical. In absolute terms, I suspect the Audioquest is better sounding, but using it's headphone output to drive a line-level input (plus the use of a suitable 3.5mm to RCA cable) will muddy things a...

Arcam's A19 is well worth a listen. It's around £700, so might fit into your budget. We've also had good results with Marantz's PM6005 (Around £300).

Both the ProAc Studio 118 and ATC SCM11s would get my vote.

I think you would do better with dividing your budget between better speakers and improving the phono stage. The one in the Kandy is decent but you'll get a much better sound going for something like Rega's MM (£200) or Graham Slee's pricier ERA Gold V MM (£400). As for speakers, have a listen...

I think the Concept 20s would be best for clarity, but because of the size of your room you may end up with a better balanced sound with either the Q Acoustics 2050is (the newer 3050s are better, though) or the Dali Zenzor 5s.

I suggest giving Monitor Audio's Bronze 2s a go. They're good all-rounders with a balanced sound and decent scale.

Hello, the Q Acoustics 3020s (£190) are well worth a listen.

I think they are really neat solutions, and great value as far as feature count goes. Some, such as the MCR-610, can be musically engaging, but in my experience good seprates will produce better overall results. The downside is, of course, that they will cost way more if you try to match features.
