Lets See all those Vinyl storages spaces !!!

So apparently the Expedit is to be discontinued! There is a replacement, which looks a bit nicer to be honest.

    Ceramic bearing . . .

I'm positive! I just ordered one — worth the try if it makes the difference.

    Ceramic bearing . . .

Those ceramic beaings probably cost pennies — nice upgrade if it makes the difference.

    Rega DAC Placement

Loving it! Still wonder what the Sumiko Blue Point would have been like after the guy in the shop said that the 10x5 was a little less lively!

    Rega DAC Placement

They got rid of the cloverleaf — I wonder if they changed anything else. I was wondering if its possible to open it up and change the connector on the back — it is only screwed on. (I am fairly confident with my electronics)

    New cart wanted

Though I would say that doing it yourself is probably the best bet - you'll learn how it ll works. Having said that - there's the chance of destroying a cart if you bend off the stylus - so the money might be worth it if you've spent a lot on the cart.

    New cart wanted

I don't think 40-50 is soooo bad, though a bit pricey if you've purchased the cart from them. It takes more than 15 mins if you're taking your time - plus the use of the scale and the years of experience of setting it up - not that bad really.

    HiFi Test Record

You can use the computer to analyse the waveform etc I recorded the 300Hz test tone and put it through Audacity. It picks it up as 298Hz — indicating that the deck is mildly slow by a percent or so? Then checking out the two channels, one is -1.6dB and the other is 2.1dB — so is my cart...

    HiFi Test Record

Has anyone ever used one? Wondering if I can use it in conjunction with something on my computer to check channel balance, bias etc James

Essential part of a TT service most forget about?

It will either be an issue or it won't — if the torque is enough to overcome the extra drag then I'd expect that the heavier oil would be better. However for all I know a motor with more torque may cause more vibration through the belt. Surely the oil should not come out? I would suggest you...

Essential part of a TT service most forget about?

It would only slow things down if the motor didn't have enough torque — so depends on spec of the motor. The gearing is pretty high so I wouldn't expect it to have much of an issue. Oil creep means a dodgy bearing design in my book… We could go around forever :) (not arguing abour...

Essential part of a TT service most forget about?

The fancy new diff in my car runs on fully synthetic limited slip high pressure oil — perfect I reckon. Considering the abuse oil takes in an engine I'd imagine that it never ever ever needs to be changed in a turntable — there's no heat, no water, no fuel. As for grade of oil — I would think...

    Record clamp on RP6

Hi CJSF, I've been listening to it more — and I have got used to it more. I think overall it sounds better with than without. I have the Michell Engineering VTA adjuster so can adjust to my hearts content — I also have a digital balance (though technically not a -stylus- balance, it seems to...

    Record clamp on RP6

So I summise— the clamp has added some control and detail— and taken away a little of the excitement— so now it feels like my Dynavector is a little too laid back? We are talking single figure percentages here—
