    cyrus advice

Inatead I would change the cdi to the cd t I am not sure that the cd xt signature will made a huge impact for mid-level system as yours ,pure cd transport will always be better than CDP if you have good DAC so I should consider DAC upgrade but as advised by others there is much better and...

    Quad S-1 - demo impressions

With good amplification cheap shelf speakers have some charm in demo sessions I was surprised once I heard some of them like Monitor Audio Bronz BX1 or B&W 686 with very good bass ,details and clarity and how easy they can "disappear" at the listening room, However they lack the punch attack...

Proac speakers ignored by What Hi Fi ?

I agree the Studio 148 is better overall than the D18/D20 .The D20 is more detailed and deeper but the 148 has better bass and dynamics and bigger soundstage . However The D30 is better than both of them if the budget can be strech.

Proac speakers ignored by What Hi Fi ?

Don't think twice buy the D30 ! I heard the D20 found them wonderfully sweet and engaging but "bass shine" maybe they can sparkle in small rooms I don't know... The D30 are better and do worth the extra cost.

Proac speakers ignored by What Hi Fi ?

The D18 is no longer in production only the D20. If you can push your budget there is a new version coming out the D30S which use the new driver of its bigger brother the D48R. I am considering to upgrade my Studio 140MK2 to the D48R unfortunately I can't make a demo in my country and found...

Proac speakers ignored by What Hi Fi ?

I was very surprised to find out that What Hi Fi didn't make any reviews in the past year for this wonderful company although they came up with some interesting new speakers that I am interesting in :Response D20, Response D48, Tablet 10, Studio SM100, Studio 148,Response DB1,Response D30S...

CDs, ripping vs playing: do you need a quality transport for ripping CDs?

Once I was looking for CD transport I eliminate the Cyrus as option due their slot load mechanism consider to be less reliable over time than the traditional tray method thus why I prefered the cheaper Cambridge CXC which is doing a fine job in my system, a very high value for money .

    Arcam CD82 as a dac

This days it's better to buy a good DAC or media player with inner DAC and a CD transport (the CXC is great by the way) than you have the option to maintain your CDs collection and to hear looseless files as well.

    CD Transport/DAC Amp

Yes it's very simple via the optical or the coax lead. From my experience CD dedicated transport is much better than CDP (as transport) the CXC is a great transport.

Proac Response D48R Vs. Monitor Audio PL200 II

They are in the same price level heard the MA PL 300 II and liked it very much but it's too big for my room so I was thinking of buying its little brother the MA 200 , I can't audition the D48R neither I only manage to audition the D20 and liked it too but I want the D48R the top of the line...

    CD Transport/DAC Amp

To use the Cambridge CXC transport you need a decent external DAC otherwise it's useless. Do you have a DAC in your system?

    CD Transport/DAC Amp

There are 2 problems with Audiolab CD transport there is no display and there is no remote control so without the Audiolab DAC it is useless ! From my experience CDP is a bad transport I notifyied HUGE IMPROVEMENT once I bought the Cambridge CXC dedicated transport and if you can spend more...

    CD Transport/DAC Amp

It's better to use CD transport with a DAC than dedicated CDP if you have a good DAC already. You should consider the Cambridge CXC or the Cyrus CD t which seems better options than the Audiolab M-CDT .
