Thanks so much for the different suggestion. It doesn't work again if it's been in standby though. Only if it's been completely unplugged. Surely standby doesn't keep the amp that warm and it should cool down and work again... ive ve not heard the fan working since I got it but I've not run it...

Left it unplugged overnight. it worked for around 10 mins then when a bit crackly and then stopped working again. Why would it keep coming back!

Yeh, I don't think they are sent all the surround info like that as the amp doesn't just make the back 4 speakers the same in a 7.1 setup. Defo need to get the amp looked at. Guess I will wait until new year!

After being off for a while it ran full volume on the setup... Now it doesnt sadly... Its a 7 channel amp so I am wondering If I can use the other channels as surround left and right instead? (I am only using 5.1)

Yes I'm really happy with the receiver. It doesn't have all the mod cons (mainly 4k and the network function isn't functioning which is a common fault on these I believe) but I now know what a good surround receiver sounds like and I will definitely be purchasing from the top of the line ranges...

Finally worked it out from reading forums. Ylu our have to switch hdmi control off and then the option is there in the input menu.

Got it all hooked up and it sounds absolutely great! Love the options for using surround sound with music! There are so many. I found one that keeps all the vocals up front and then surrounds you with different parts of the music too. Don't know how it separates it all from a stereo source but...

Ok I decided to run an optical audio cable from APPLE TV to my CD in part so I can now hit CD and just get apple tv audio which is good. Would be great to hear any other ideas for assigning the other inputs

Thanks very much for all the input Folks :) I actually found a great deal on a Pioneer LX83 so I thought I'd try it and if It wasn't right I could sell it on again. It has all the features I could need for now just not 4K (which doesn't bother me yet anyway) but I have apple tv for my airplay...

Thanks for your message. the monitor audio are quite small and for music with just 2 speakers they are not amazing so I imagine the dali zenzor will be better as they can be used in a stereo system but I can't imagine using the radius 90 for stereo only in a music system?
