Rotel 1582 MK 2 is a excellent amplifier apart from the problem of the input sensitivity which should be 1 volt not an absurd 2 volts which makes it incompatible with most other pre-amps.

I heard the KEF Q900's some time ago and was interested to read the HFN review which mirrors the sound I heard on the Q700's when I compared them to the B & W . CM8's People always complain when their pride & joy is commented upon adversly. You would have lost money with your bet.

For listening to Classical music the B & W CM8's are far superior to the KEF Q700 , I found the strings on the Q700 to be very edgy exactly as descibed in the April HFN review of the larger Q900 which only achieved a low 70% sound rating.

You are entitled to like distortion if that is what you need to prevent you from falling asleep.

Roksan integrated is considered to be a very good amplifier, (What Hi-Fi ? rate it 5 stars) why would it not be suitable for the KEF Q700. ? HFN in their April review of the KEF Q900 used a different amplifier ,they commented on the edgy strings and only gave the KEF's a low 70% sound rating.

KEF Q700 I agree I should have said virtually unlistenable for Classical music , bi-wire ? Spendor & others do not bi-wire their speakers.. The amplifier used for the demonstration was Roksan.
