I just have some small cheap surround sound speakers that came with the AVR (YAMAHA NS-AP2600). The only thing I use the AVR for is music, but I use all of the speakers, so it's in surround sound.
I haven't heard them yet
He doesn't really have a need for them anymore, so he just offered them for free.
My budget is hard to say, but ideally the speakers don't go over $300.
I have been on the search for a set of good affordable speakers, and I have an opportunity to get the Kenwood KS-401HTs from someone I know. Can anyone tell me anything about these speakers in terms of reliability and sound quality, or Kenwood as a brand? My current amp is a Yamaha RX-V361...
Does anyone have a preference on these speakers? I've heard good things and recommendations of both, but just wanted to see if anyone has spent much time listening to them and could tell me if one set is preferred or sounds better than the other. I'm looking to buy some speakers and these have...
I mostly listen to jazz, jazz fusion, rock, soft rock, and pop rock. This is my sub. The AXA25 has a minimum impedance of 8 ohms, and the speakers I want have 6 ohm impedance. I have a Fluance RT81, which does have a built in preamp.
I unfortunately do not have any affordable Hifi stores near me, they mostly sell really high end stuff. I am curious about not needing a sub out on an amp, could you explain?
I looked again at the 3050s on the link I provided and I think that it is just one speaker instead of a pair, which brings me back to the Elacs. Since they are bookshelf speakers, I probably need to use my sub, so now I also probably need an amp with sub out. I'm kinda back to square one here...
I've heard great things about the Elacs, but I don't know much about the 3050s, however they were recommended to me on another thread.
Update: I've just looked into them and found a What Hi Fi? article that speaks quite highly of them.
