I listen to a lot of r&b, jazz, reggae and house and my speakers would suit your system. Cyrus and Vienna Acoustics are supposedly very well matched.

You might want to try the W4S DAC1or 2. I have the 1 and your description of the amp sounds very familiar.

If I could start again with £6k, I'd buy my speakers again, the latest Moon amp around the £2.5k mark and you won't beat the Wyred 4 Sound DAC for under £1k. My opinion of course!

It's hard to explain but the sound is just much bigger and fills the room effortlessly.

The 1200es was my first AV receiver and it served me well. However, you will notice a big step up with a £800 spend, especially if you buy well - my current receiver cost me £975 and this years model retails at £2k.

To Bernard, I went from the Sony 3400es to the 3010 Yammy and the difference was huge!

I'd check out a SimAudio Moon I.1 amp. There are a couple on eBay at the moment.

They're are not as important I agree but when you get it right, they can make a huge difference. I was mightily impressed with my Apex speakers but my in wall rears are a lot better and I've heard no sat speaker system that can touch a very good full sized package.

My view is the 3010 is the steal of the century - I got mine a few months ago and it's a beast! So, grab one while you can as they won't last much longer. As for the Apex shout, I would say they are very good but not great. I used to have a pair for my rears but replaced them (decorating...

I still love my system though! Oh, and I've refloored my lounge and hallway and moved all my equipment to another room. All the cables are under the floor and actives would require a whole new set up. And my VA speakers look beautiful and the actives do lack good looks! Matching centre...
