Not necessarily. Depends on what you like about the RS1s and what you hope to gain from the RS3s. Its not a win win upgrade in every case. Also your room can be a big factor in the results. I went from RS3 to RS1 with complete sucess. Tread carefully . Long home dem would be my suggestion.

Either the one that Rega supply with the Apollo or Rega Couple are the most obvious choices. Can you not borrow some from your dealer to see if you can hear any difference.

You could easily manage a great sounding system for that price. I would look up a Rega dealer and dem an Apollo / Brio3 / RS3 system. Comes in just under budget . A dealer would probably throw in some cables as well.

Yes you can use the Mira3 as a pre amp. Trouble is you may not gain much as the Mira3 pre amp section will be holding back the new power amp . I tried my Mira3 as a pre with a Maia3 power amp and found little improvement. But then swap the Mira3 for the Cursa3 and see things really improve...

As you seem to like the Rega sound the most obvious candidates would be the Rega Couple interconnect and Regas Quattro or SC42 speaker cable. I have been using the Couple and SC42 in all Rega systems happily for many years.

I am using Chord Superscreen on my Rega Saturn and Mira3. They do make quite a difference on these.
