Help needed - unhappy with Arcam sound.

Thanks - Guess i'll just have to put up with it - after all my S's always seem to be pronounced to myself when i speak and if it's on the recording then no amount of cable changes will grt rid of it

Help needed - unhappy with Arcam sound.

Without a doubt - vocals are natural - i'm actully hearing sounds that i never heard before, i used my mates DULCET REFERENCE 3A speakers (£1700) and for me the pmc's blew them away. One question though - A lot of cd's i listen to i hear all the S's in the vocals if thats the way to describe it...

Got the PMC's on Demmo and boy are they good, whole new life to my cd collection, superb tight bass & midrange - bye bye Quads hello pmc's.

Thanks i think i'll stick with the CD92, i am hoping to demmo the PMC DB1i's at the week end - I was a rocker in my younger days and still enjoy Zep / Deep Purple / Ac/Dc / Who Etc at a deafening volume only just not as often, i listen to more laid back stuff now and want to hear everything on a cd.

Thanks - Will be going with new speakers but not the amp, still toying with the CD192 @ £400 new it's a steal, might raise around £300 for CD92 & Quads on EBAY, Wot do you think CD92 or CD192? Agree about compression on cd's though.

JoelSim:floydfan: Thanks for info Joel- I do have a thick rug in the room so not an issue there, i'll bear the red wine in mind though nice with Madeleine Peyroux. Happy with the sound of floyd etc these albums are not an issue its stuff like the killers, and more modern albums they just sound...

igglebert:JoelSim: igglebert:I have to throw in a curve ball; the Quad 11L are very good speakers indeed, considerably better than many at the same price, e.g. MA RS1. But I guess there has to be something that gives at that price and a slightly harsh tweeter (although soft dome) might be it...

If you could recommend one album.........

Don't know if this counts but for sheer production, sound quality & listenability I would recommend highly CHRIS ISAAC - BAJA SESSIONS from 19996 - don't think any hifi nut would be disappointed with this one.

Thanks for response - yes the floor is liminated but never caused any probs with the CD82. I live in aterrace property so limited to the volume i can play music - usually around -25db max. I've read that Quad produce a bright sound thats why i'm looking at new speakers. That brightness...
